New "compact" PS2 coming in 2008

My question is, how the hell can Sony make the PS2 even more compact? The thing is tiny to begin with.

Eh... You're left with space just enough to put the disc in, and that's it...?

Take the slim, cut the part left (and from) the smooth "line" where you put the controllers, and voila?

With the massive library it already has, and with the plethora of casual titles it has received in the last 2 years + is receiving lately (Buzz, Singstar etc), Sony's using the PS2 as a means to stop Wii being too successful.

The only problem with this is that it could taken even longer for people to get into the PS3.

I don't know why MS hasn't done this with the PC yet. Honestly, a Wiimote rip off and some in house developers making games for it doesn't sell? Make every game run on those $399 dell systems and you're good to go.

It seems to me that this is a bad business move. Not only are you moving the BC from the PS3 to the PS2UltraSlim. You're also cannabalizing your PS2 SKU's which actually WERE moving...

I don't know the ins and outs of the Sony Corporation. I don have a degree in business though. Playstation is thrashing in the water. "They're re-releasing their exact same system!" "Well thats not really bad. What's changed?" "It's smaller" "D'OH!"
