Okay I'm offically getting worried now. It seems like they are really comprimising on what really made Resident Evil well Resident Evil. Kage and Foxhound are gonna get on me now lolBlackbondYeah, flying bikes? WTF! And i thought that laser dodging in Re4 couln't be beaten :(
Ewwwwww @ The chain and the texture on the hammer in the second screen. TheGrat1
Yeah I'm not buying the game because of that texture.

yeah its lost the resident evil feeling to it, you know the creepy enviroments, the eerie music, the feeling of been alone and not been able to buy guns lol. seeing the effects the zombies left dead bodies, boarded up windows, etc. the way the camera worked so that if you passed a window it would zoom in on it giving you the feeling something is going to jump through but nothing happens or it doesnt happen till a key event has taken place like picking up an item required.
i hope we see another resident evil game like the old ones.

Of course! Because I obviously said bad textures = no buy! I'm glad you figured it out!
 Dont be so shallow when reading a post.
So is resident evil still survival horror? If you think about it, slowly they have been taking away the "horror" aspect of the game (not like there was much of it to begin with).
Resident Evil 1-3: We had the clunky controls that added to the sense of confinement and hindered you if u panicked. They helped set the mood well. We had the creepy zombies. We had the lagre mansion-esque locations. We had the purposely obstructive cameras to help bring the sense of suspense and unknowingness. Extremely slow pace to help build up the atmosphere and suspense. takes place at night.
Resisdent Evil 4: So we got rid of the clunky controls, but atleast these new ones were still a little awkward and stiff to add to the suspense. No more zombies....we just now have sum wierd parasite....lame.... A spanish villag, not bad, and then we enter a castle...nice. Takes place mostly at night. Complete control of the camera so now the game has to rely on cheap "pop-out" scares since we are able to survey an entire area and know wats coming from miles away. Faster pace means that you no longer feel like "a guy stuck in hell" but more like "Batman having a bad day", which is cool too, but its far more frieghtening when your character is helpless. Leon was too "cool" and "badass" once again swerving away from the "oh crap, what am I gonna do" feel to a more "Im badass, and im about to kick sum ass!" feel which i think is wrong for horror games.
Resident Evil 5: Now from what I have seen the majority of the game seems to take place during day time. Sorry to say this, but day time is just lame. Sure you can have "eerie" during day time, but "horror"?...i dont think so. The problem with day time is visibility. You have too much of it! True horror comes from not knowing, but when you can see across the whole level then you basically know what to expect, apart from the cheap popout scares. Silent Hill had some daytime parts but they masterfully did it by adding an element of fog to decrease visibility. Capcom needs to realize that Visibilty kills horror! Then comes the controls....this is becoming more and more like an action game. The player has far too much control over their character and its too smooth. This isnt Gears of War! The point of the game isnt to look badass while killing people! We want SURVIVAL HORROR, not BADASS CHILLING ACTION.
When will they realize that the more helpless your character is, the more the game becomes a "survival" game rather than you basic action game? not to mention, helpless characters in creepy situations = horror. And so far the character design is boring as hell. These "zombies" look about as scary as my next door neighbor :? Maybe its just me but i personally believe that these so called "improvements" are actually turning RE away from the game it was and making it more of a mainstream braindead action game. People complain about the Wii being casual, but in reality all consoles are becoming more casual, the only difference is that Wii is willing to admit it. And dont even get me started on Vehicles in an RE game....Capcom must have lost their damn mind!
Its resident evil 4 all over again..
Buah capcom sucks!,they are ruining resident evil series!
reactions after people played the game and got reviews all over the world

Looks like fun, if it were Gears of War, but why do so many screens for this Resident Evil game have explosions? :(
Even 4 had some slower, creepy sections that were a bit more like the original style. While the new style is more "fun" than the old, in one sense, it's a lot less original too, they should keep some of their roots at least.

What are you talking about? The gameplay? If you are a true RE fan you should be dissapointed because this game has more in common with Gears of War than Resident Evil. If they changed the name, you would never be able to tell that this was Resident Evil. And as for the story, RE4 changed the whole direction of the story. In RE 1-3 it was all about Umbrella and the T-Virus, then RE4 introduced a new parasitic organism. Now i dunno about you but this is akin tomaking the next Star Wars movies basedon beverly hills 90210 and saying "real fans should enjoy it!"

I admit that I was one of those people that sneered at you, but now even I see it :? Its not as bad as hardcore hermits make it out to be, but its definitely happening. Think about how many casual shooters we have had this gen alone. no more Deus Ex Shooters. And i cant even remember the last time i died in a game while playing in "normal" mode. Everyone says "then play in hard mode, or ultra hard mode noob!"...fair enough, but remember back in the days when "normal" was tougher than "hard mode" today? I miss those days, when Devs actually thought that we had braincells and could figure out a problem by ourselves rather than just holding our hand the whole way through :?

II_Seraphim_II
Agreed.
Capcom took the RE franchise, and turned it into a casual fest.
Is it just me or is this Resident Evil turning out be quite... "explosive"?
So much for subtle eerie atmospheres : let's choose big guns and big booms to convey our sense of fear, hurrah!
Absolutely breathtaking.
I am so glad they went away from the old ways of the horrible camera, pre-rendered backgrounds and awful controls. Having your movement restricted does NOT add to the fear and suspense of a survival horror. The atmosphere, music and graphics do this. If RE5 can successfully blend action and survival horror (without gimped controls) it will easily be the best RE game that the developers are calling it.
Having your movement restricted does NOT add to the fear and suspense of a survival horror.
Aljosa23
On the contrary, my friend, movement restriction is one of the major elements that separate a survival-horror from an action-horror game. By disallowing free movement, you essentially limit yourself to whatever is in front of you : this gives the player an extra sense of dread, as being able to evade & counter is critically lowered whenever you need to readjust your position.
