And why would they do this?
How many psp exclusive titles did they announce even though the DS is dominating it? They already announced FFXIII exclusive for the ps3, and it will stay that way. Announcing a NEW game as multiplatform isn't much of a surprise at all. It's not like the game was exclusive and then suddenly went multiplat out of nowhere.

No, they didnt announce FFXIII as "exclusive" for the PS3 unless I missed a press release in the last 2 weeks. Last word was they were considering a multi-plat release.

Also, remember this:
FFXIII is being developed using the White Engine (actually, they are being developed simultaneously). The White Engine is made from the gorund up for the ps3.

It was like this before the PS1 took the crown from the N64, the N64 was succesfull on name alone but the PS1 was such a better console with it's CD capacity games. When devs start anouncing projects on platforms they normally don't support, it's a sign, that the devs are nervous about making money on single platform exclusives. Just how many XBOX games did square make, last gen??

idk about FFXIII but I do think they are testing the 360 to see what happens.
So, some ppl actually think that one game for 360 (and it's also on PS3) from Square means they turning the support all to 360 too, huh.tegovoltio
Doesn;t it mean just that though? In the last gen you NEVER saw an SE RPG on a M$ system... and now we do..

hmm an old article where a french sony executive is saying they are in the process of buying the rights mean it is goin to 360 ? nice one buddy !
But didnt SE say that the White Engine actually wasn't build for the PS3. It built as a dynamic engine to enable them the option to release FFXIII on the PC or 360 which is why the exclusivity for the PS3 is even under discussion? I've been trying to keep up on all of the SE news and believe this to be correct. But I could be wrong I guess.kindredmachineactually yes you are wrong, wiki FF13.

Actually, if I can add something. Technically there are already 3 Square-Enix games for the 360... The Remnanats, FFXI and Project Sipheed. Personally, I think FFXIII coming to the 360 is a 50/50 chance. They're already considering it. I find it odd that SE hasn't actually announced exclusivity for the PS3 yet... hmm...

Yeah, but you didn't see much of anything on an MS system. One game doesn't mean that Square is throwing full support behind MS. If anything they're just testing the waters. They're seeing how succesful any games they make will be on the 360, for future reference.[QUOTE="kindredmachine"][QUOTE="tegovoltio"]So, some ppl actually think that one game for 360 (and it's also on PS3) from Square means they turning the support all to 360 too, huh.kindredmachine

Well, they kinda did that when they annouced the game for the ps3 but no other console. :|How many ps2 games were announced specifically as "exlusive"? Most were just annouced for the ps2, and nothing else.
You people are reading far too much into nothing.

They also have liscensed the Unreal Engine 3, so all they would have to do is use the assests from the PS3 project and recode, at max 1 years worth of work that *may* have started already...just a thought though :D... they will if it means a few million extra sales :-)kindredmachineWell, they'd be saving money by not rewoking the engine, and they'd be saving time, which would allow them to work on a new game which would mean even more money.
I'm not sure which way they'd end up ahead, but i'm leaning more towards exclusivity, seeing as Sony would most likely cough up a little money if they mentioned anything about multiplat.

I never stated that FFXIII was coming ot the 360, I asked what you believed the chances are. Re-read the posts.kindredmachinei didnt notice you were the tc but in any case it is what you were alluding to. you have to put things into prospective and realise that 360 is doing worse in japan than xbox 1 was in the same timeframe even though MS has been trying much harder this time around, and these are japanese devs and they are making JRPGs.

You're absolutely right. "All that effort, time, and money to port the game to a console that is dead in Japan" you say? You did know that Japan is only 20% of the worldwide market right?
But you make a good point, if it's dead in Japan then what's the point? It's no wonder that games made by Japanese developers like Ace Combat 6, Virtua Fighter 5, DMC4 and SE's own "The Remnants" aren't coming to the 360.... Oh wait..

No ur missing his point, a game that gets a good portion of its sales in Japan isnt gonna be that successful on the 360. Although the 360s dominance in the US, can give it some serious consideration since the US is the biggest market. But FF13 is a huge Japanese loved game, FF versus 13 might find its way onto 360, but highly doubt FF13.

Also, it would cost more money to port the game to the 360 than it would be to simultaneously build a game for both systems. Remember, FFXIII uses the White Engine, and has been in development for the ps3 only for well over a year. A 360 version would have begun six months ago at the earliest.
The Last Remnant won't cost them too much money because they are using UE3.0 and have been develping it for both platforms from the get-go. They don't need to drastically alter it to port it or anything. If they did port it, they wouldn't slack off and pull a Ubisoft, either. They put attention to details, and that would cost money.

Actually not, with 1/10 the cost to just port the engine, they will sell 2-3x the PS3 copies in the larger 360 install base, if what you said was true, then not only with PS3 sales would not make a profit, but be 1000% in debt, or 9 times more in debt than with the 360 version that costed 1/10 to make
They would not have to compeltly redone the whole game you knwo, like change the videos - AI - animations - models - textures - etc et etc, the game is 90% ready for 360, they will port first thing after it is released on PS3
