The art direction is simply fantastic. I'm loving it.
Still, it looks like you're paying an online subscription for a single player RPG. Not once in that video did they try relate the voice-over experience and how it will truly redefine the MMO playing field. They didn't have to explicitly state it, but neither did any of the game-play actually show any indication of an ultimately large playing field where lots of people help shape the world together.
If Bioware truly wants to redefine the MMO experience, it's not simply trying to turn MMOs into single-player RPGs, which is what they seem to be doing here. Voice acting won't change the game, and neither will a dozen scriptwriters.
Another thing I'm worried about is that that bounty hunter is wielding a lightsaber. In fact, he's even dual-wielding two lightsabers. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really hope the world is not going to be packed with thousands of players each with their own lightsaber. That's not what the Star Wars universe is like at all.
The bounty hunter didn't have a lightsaber that was the Sith. The Sith was the thin one with the British accent and the Bounty Hunter was the big one with the gritty American accent. The art direction is simply fantastic. I'm loving it.

My bad, I thought they were one and the same. It seems everyone's wielding lightsabers in Star Wars nowadays though -- just look at Episode III and the Clone Wars saga.
Nevertheless, my point still stands. Bioware's letting everyone become a Jedi or Sith to the point where it's going to be rarer to see a smuggler instead of a Jedi Master. When that happens, I doubt The Old Republic will be as immersive as they want it to be.

As long as the skills for all the classes are balanced out the game will be fine. Jedis may be huge at first but it will balance out I am sure. Also the3 flavor of the month class is always the over powered one. So if a smuggler is more powerfull then a jedi for whatever reasons then more poeple will want to play them. If I did play I personally would rather have a Chewbacca style. The big Wookie warriorThey are making it so as many people as possible can enjoy the game. For example look at WoW. or look how badly some of Sony's MMOs did because of the high graphics. Such as EQ2 and Vanguard. MMOs that players need higher end PCs will fail.God, they honestly need to work on the graphics/character animations.. Being a huge dev and all Bioware has no excuse to have a MMORPG looking like that.

Visually? Crap. Also I think the art direction doesn't fit the SW universe....just saying.
Impressive voice work, but what's gonna happen six weeks into the game? Re-roll, find a slightly different story for each character? How is it going to keep people engaged?
Also, all they've showed so far is what looks like an online singe player game? The graphics are nice to look at as stills, the animations however are terrible, I mean really choppy, rather than swing the light sabre around they seem to jerk from place to place like a Charlie Chaplin movie.
As good as bioware is MMO's are ripoffs. On top of that most are trash and even the best aren't very good. I hate what they've done to kotor hate hate hate it!
To be honest the only mmo i have seen with decent combat animation (that is what You mean right?) is conan.Impressive voice work, but what's gonna happen six weeks into the game? Re-roll, find a slightly different story for each character? How is it going to keep people engaged?

Im pretty sure the game is still in its alpha stage, thats why it doesnt look good. By the time its released, im sure it will look amazing.
Strength of MMO's is definitely not the visuals anyway. What i'm really interested in is character customization, career path and whether they can keep the combat interesting... That latter one is almost impossible. If they pull that off, to some degree, it will beat any mmo out there.Im pretty sure the game is still in its alpha stage, thats why it doesnt look good. I hope they get a beta out soon, game will be excellent.this WILL be the game to pull me away from SWG. ever since it was announced iv wanted this game, really cant wait to see how well bioware have pulled it together. in all honesty i think bioware write better SW scripts and storys than LA, i would love to see what kinds of games they could produce with full control over the star wars licence.
Do You think we'll be able to play alien races? Actually it's probably what they are expecting considering the timeline of this game is where the jedi and sith were extremely numerous.
Thats great and all, really, but um, where does the whole MMO part come in?enterawesome
Well that's just footage from the E3 demo they had that was behind closed doors, the bounty hunter and the sith are both different players there I believe (when they both are on the deck)

Yeah they are seemingly using timelines and plots to make the lightsaber a common sight. Understandable, since if You make a starwars game You better make sure people can use a lightsaber. I mean, everyone wants to have a lightsaber right? Well, i for one hope that i can make a perfectly well functioning character who doesn't have a lightsaber or only uses it in the most extreme rare circumstances as a backup.[QUOTE="Espada12"][QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]

Why is c l a s s a banned word?
Like many have already said, it looks great but it is also looks like a single player MMO which I do not want. Looks like I'm going to experience majority of the game by myself but have a chat window to talk to friends, ummm yipee? Coming from FFXI I was a strong community aspect, I don't really care too much about voice acting at all. Actually I prefer not to have it because then I am force fed a accent for every character.
All they've talked about is voice over's... That's not what MMORPG gamer's are looking for, it's welcome, but they should be showing other stuff like pvp systems, raids etc.

It interferes with their code i think. I can't use my favorite smilies because i can't use some symbols. Try to use a capital i instead of l. Looks basically the same: cIass.[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]

Um, numerous compared to the population that was in the New Republic, not to the point where everywhere you look there's a Jedi Master and Sith Lord running about.
If this MMO is predictable enough, Bioware is making this knowing full well their universe's number one profession is going to be Jedi and Sith. The second most popular profession after that will be bounty hunter. Everything else will make up a single digit percentage.
