God of War3: Texture Resolution Quadrupled Since God of War 2

GOW3 wasn't all that great looking it looked liked a more polsih xbox 1 game. However Uncharted 2 looked great. Not the best looking game for 2009 though. KZ2 and RE5 looks way better than it.too_much_eslim

Awesome! I can't wait, but I was kind of underwhelmed by the graphics in the trailer, considering what Jaffe was saying. Though I don't really care about the visuals, I just want to finish the story.Haziqonfire

If folks had shut up about it looking better than CGI and the like, then it would've been looked upon more charitably. It's like Ninja Gaiden 2's situation. itagaki went on and on about how Ninja Gaiden 2 was going to blow away all other Xbox 360 games in terms of visuals and when it didn't, it was harshly criticized for it.

These devs need to stop being so cocky and promising the world to gamers each time they start a new project. If anything, they should try to keep people's expectations in check. This way, if the game turns out to be phenomenal, it'll shatter everyone's expectations for it and be more well received.

First off, MGS4 had a fat downgrade? WTFreak are you talking about, any proof on this?

Secondly, of course the Halo 3 BETA looked nearly like the final product...are you seriously trying to tell me GOW3 is already in Beta...if not why even mention it?

Thirdly have you ever seen the first couple of footage from Uncharted? The game looks significally better then it had looked in the past.

Lastly, Lair was a downgrade from the start.

IGN showed a video side by side comparison with TGS trailer and the final product, and the final product looked much better.

It looked washed out to me, so it loses that sharp look a lot of other games have (Uncharted, Gears of War, etc).musicalmac

I have full faith in the development team.

They pushed the hardware of the PS2 so well when it came to GOW1 and GOW2, to the point where I was still saying "WOW!" at God of War 2 (I was actually playing it this summer) -- hell, the game looks better than most of my Wii games.

I'm sure that they'll push the PS3 hardware more than any other developer has at this point.Haziqonfire

Personally I think the graphics will improve. I think they just showed off the footage earlier than they would have wanted to to try and boost the PS3's momentum. I think they work on gameplay first then they polish graphics later on. For instance look at the Resistance 2 Beta and the actual game. There are some noticeable graphics improvements in the final game than in the beta. If you can notice differences from beta to final, expect bigger improvements from Alpha (or what ever GoW3 is in) to final :DII_Seraphim_II

As I said above, I'll wait and see. It's a very pessimistic outlook but this way, I won't be disappointed no matter what happens.

yeah it is a bit underwhelming, still good, but not as good as it could be. But im really happy with the animations! They look fantastic :D
