and the man who directed ong bak is directing the new movie

eurogamer

A brand new Tekken movie, subtitled Rise of the Tournament, is currently in the works, according to production company Crystal Sky.

As detailed by The Hollywood Reporter, it will be a prequel to the 2010 straight-to-DVD franchise tie-in (trailered below), though this time a full theatrical release is planned.

It'll be directed by Prachya Pinkaew, the man behind much-admired 2003 Thai dust-up Ong Bak. The plan is not to cast big-name stars but bring in actors who resemble the characters from the game.

If a director who worked with Tony Jaa is working on this, the fight scenes better be good.

Mortal Kombat 1 and Prince of Persia disagree.

Ong Bak was awesome. I hope this turns out better than the awful 2010 live-action film. Can't wait.

Hopefully, he does a better job than he did Tekken Animated and Tekken 2010.

I liked both of them. His Tekken Blood Vengance review was much better though.

I actually enjoyed the live action Tekken film even though I didn't care for the guy who played Jin, but this one could be a lot better if Ong Bak guy is directing.
