This would be ideal for Pikmin 3, like pulling your pikmin from the tablet onto your TV !!

So you ould capture what's on the TV and watch it walking around on the Tablet? Sounds like it could be a neat addition. Watch TV while going to get a beer :P
that sounds very clunky and troublesome.TBH i don't see it working well.BrunoBRS
I don't want to be a party pooper but I completely agree.
Its just one of those stupid patents, for the sake of patenting. It most likely wont get utilized in any noteworthy capacity.

the only use I can think of is some kind of Warioware kind of minigame. That grabbing pikmin idea just wouldn't work imo. Pikmin makes more sense with the tablet in your hand so you can use the touch screen.GunSmith1_basic
I still think the way NPC pikmin plays is better for pikmin than the touch screen would be.
I mean, just to see where you are touching, the whole game would have to be played on the tablet. Why not just make it a 3DS game at that point?

I was thinking more like keeping maps, stats, time, and other HUD stuff on the tablet. I know in Pikmin 2 you controlled Olimar and Louie so maybe you could have a bit more interaction between the two on different screens. Also, I've never played a NPC Pikmin but I never beat Pikmin 2 so I'm probably going to get that one next month.I'm almost positive this is to be used for something like the golf game demo they showed. (Where the controller is on the ground, a golf ball is displayed and you hit it with the wiimote.Meinhard1I saw a patent for that... probably the same tech:
If that rumor about the Wii U coming packaged with a Wiimote+ Nunchuck ends up being true, that would be a genious move for Nintendo.
Why use a Wiimote for this? Why not use the inbuilt camera and just point the tablet at the TV?charizard1605That's not the same thing though. This is a POC anyway.

Proof of concept? For what, though? Any gameplay concept where this could possibly be implemented sounds like it would be much better off without any such gimmicks.

But this isn't the first bullsh*t patent we have seen or will see. I expect it to possibly be in some Mario Party or Warioware game.

Honestly, I just hope the tablet actually manages to justify its inclusion in games, something that neither the Wii, nor the Motion Plus could ever do.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"] That's not the same thing though. Patents are just that. Companies go through dozens of them so this is far from any kind of confirmation.
