Famitsu says so.

As it turns out...

  • The name is Wario Land Shake
  • It's a side-scroller
  • You hold the controller sideways like Super Paper Mario and Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • You control Wario's movement with the D-Pad
  • Wario's attacks are made by shaking the Wiimote, just like Super Mario Galaxy
  • Takes place in an ancient globe that has been tucked away in a museum
  • Wario is after Pirates that have found a treasure that continually gives money when shaken
  • The graphics will be made by animation studio Production I.G. and will be made similiar to the way animated movies are made
  • The graphics are completely in hand-drawn 2D animation
  • Comes out July 24 in Japan

Wario Land + Indiana Jones + Mario Galaxy + Warioware = Wario Land Shake

Umm...if you are already holding the wiimote sideways and controlling the game with the D-pad, would it not be EXTREMELY awkward to shack the wiimote with that setup?

No.

Yes it would. Am I missing something? You hold the wiimote sideways with BOTH hands and control the game with the D-pad. Then, when you need to attack, you shake the wiimote. How would that not be awkward? With SMG, you had the nunchuk in one hand, and the wiimote in the other. It was easy to shake the wiimote in SMG. If you are holding the wiimote with both hands in a sideways position, and then need to shake the wiimote, then it would be awkward. It is much more comfortable to shake the wiimote with one hand instead of two. If you want to shake it with one hand, you would have to constantly be readjusting. You'd have to release the wiimote with one hand, then shake the wiimote to attack, then position the wiimote sideways again to regain control of Wario with the D-pad. You'd have to do this over and over again.

I personally don't like many wario games that much (The exception being wario ware). I'd rather they make a sidescrolling mario.

No.

You did it in Sonic and the Secret Rings, and it wasn't awkward there. It worked fine. And you did it in Super Paper Mario for some of the attacks, and it worked fine in there too.

Or you could shake it up and down.

this pretty much came out of the blue

shows that nintendo are still the master of secrets

so you shouldn't really worry when there are few games on the horizon, like the end of this year

hope this is good, but don't expect it to be great
