New Xbox Hardware Releasing In 2015?

One of ZDNet's editor recently stumbled upon a web portfolio of a Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business Design Group team member that mentions a new Xbox hardware for 2015. Ben Peterson's site indicates his collaboration with Microsoft to investigate "future user experiences and hardware for 2015″ and work on this project may start as early as this month.

2015 is way too long, gaming will be so stagnant on consoles if we have to wait that long....good thing ive a pc as well :D

i think its hilarious how like 1 to 2 years ago everyone was like, "oh heck no- i don't want another console for about 4 to 5 years"... and now recently on here theres all these posts about how PC is leaving console tech behind and that consoles need to stick with the 5 to 6 year life cycle. heh. ah well :)

The economy doesn't lend it self to massive investment at the moment. I think 2015 is optimistic tbh. I'd guess at 2017 ish. How long did it take the ps3 and xbox to turn a profit this gen?tenaka2

360 - about 2 years.
PS3 - about 4 years.

lol HELL NO. all 3 of the new consoles will be released by 2013. the next ninty console may even launch this year I'm guessing.

Microsoft must have some amazing ideas between now and then to satisfy the casual market.

I'll be done with console gaming by then... Don't feel like sticking to 10 year cycles... 8 is already bad enough. 6 is bearable.

If they continue to release good games like they've been doing the last 2 years, I don't mind if the new xbox comes out in 2015.

yes but how long before you start looking at it visually the same way you do your old n64 or the play station.. its doomed to this fate doomed!

pc gaming is going to either going tog et rubberbanded rediculously by a 2015 release or its going to get shot forward.. amybe the other consoles will be out sooner and ms is simply skipping a gen entirely and arriving late to the party.

Historically we find out about major new hardware releases almost 2 years before launch (plausible rumors not press releases).

Given that we haven't had any really tangible news yet I would say that the earliest date for the next iteration is 2013, given the current economic condition and the fact that Kinect is essentially a reboot of the franchise I would say that 2014 is more likely.

oh great by then nintendo would be releasing its 7th system good job microsoft giving nintendo what im predicting a 3 yr head start lol seeing as loads of rumors have it shown this year at e3 usually comes out 1 yr or sooner later , then that with that said wii 2 will easily out sell it and take away from 360 sales which isnt bad either lol

Thisis when they stopped losing money and started reporting profits. They still have to make back the capital they invested before venturing to their next console. From a gaming standpoint I want a new console but from an economical standpoint it would be a calamity. Nintendo is the only one poised for next gen imho.

Personally I'm fine with that happening. If a new console comes out in 2012 or 2013, I will not be able to afford. Not unless I sell my 360 + all the games, which I am not doing. By 2015 I hope to be done school and start working, so I would have a better chance of getting it.EliteM0nk3y
