New XBOX in November 2017 scenario....what will Sony do?

Let's focus on the the embarrassment that is Xbox One trying to compete with PS4. I know lems are ready for the generation to be over already, but have some dignity. I would not even be sure there will another traditional Xbox console.

Considering both companies are likely working on their next consoles, they'll probably just release their own.

2017? I don't buy it

I'm not ready for the gen to be over. I am excited for Halo 5, QB, Scalebound, New Gears, Fable Legends and what they have to show at E3. Its nice to see you back (How you been dude?) but you maybe taking the sales race too seriously. Plenty of games coming for my X1.

Sony should do anything but keep making quality exclusives for the PS4, like they did for the PS3 in the later half of last gen when M$ pretty much abandon the 360.

I don't think it would happen, because publishers would be unlikely to support that short of a gen. It would hurt their cause in the long run. If it did happen, Sony would likely release in 2018, though I'm not sure that'd be rushing things at all. I don't see this gen going longer than 6 years, and 5 is very possible.

Meh...just release a Slim model with more RAM and a faster processor, and all is well. What they really need to b focusing on is some good exclusives that stay exclusive to the Xbone.

Personally I don't think MS will be releasing another Xbox if Windows 10 takes off the way it is expected.

2. New FIFA/CoD/Madden/Multiplats etc USING NEW engines (EA swaps engines every gen)

3. PS4 getting ONLY LAST GEN laughable engines for FIFA/CoD/Madden/Multiplats etc

4. Word Gets out that one can ONLY play new engine next gen FIFA/CoD/Madden/Multiplats etc on XBOX3

5. Sony rushes PS5 in order not to lose the sales war early on.

You're aware that the next Xbox will not be the third Xbox right?

A lot could happen between now and 2017. If the XBone stalls and goes flatline, releasing XBox Two could either break MS free from the bad taste in people's mouths or it could be like the Dreamcast. A really good system well-thought out but meeting even poorer market reaction.

It's a gamble trying to short-stop a generation.

I think the 2017 thing will probably happen. The next Xbox would launch alongside the next Nintendo console. Assuming its a console anyway. I'm thinking that MS might change the gaming segment of Windows 10 into the Xbox brand.

I doubt that a new Xbox in 2017 will really happen, because if they're at point where they need to make a console that's half a generation ahead, they'll auction off IPs a few months later.

I doubt this will happen, Xbox One has money invested in it and is really at the beginning of its life cycle. There will no doubt be windows 10 integration with Xbox One, but they will not replace the whole console. At this point I dont even think Nintendo will be launching a new console in 2017...

Well, the xbox is lagging behind pathetically, and thats entirely on Microsoft. This generation is going to be nightmarish for xbox.

If Microsoft released another system so early it'd bomb harder because of product saturation and potentially a big lack of third party support, it'd be basically Ms pulling a sega releasing systems in such a narrow timeframe.

Sony wouldn't need do anything besides sit and laugh at MS's desperate attempt to gain traction while swimming in their easy money because apparently people do buy consoles without games.

The PS3 proved what Sony's inhouse studios are capable of, and Microsoft the exact opposite. Playstation is a safe bet, whereas the xbox... not so much.

Phff, the X1 will just be hitting it's stride in 2017 as far as sales and games go so no, don't expect a new Xbox until 2020 at the earliest.

Both of these consoles have an expected life span of ten years, which means Sony and MS will likely not release anything new until 2019 or 2020 at the earliest.

Only Nintendo dares to be different, we'll see the NX in 2017 or maybe 2018. Of course this could push Sony and Ms into moving things up a notch but Sony really don't need to do anything right now as so many PS fans are lapping up the weak, milking machine 4.

When Banjo threeie comes out Xb1 will hit 40 million sold, then SONY will have to launch in 2017. Sony fears the banjo. And who could blame them?

Sony would probably continue with the PS4 and not alienate their customers by releasing new hardware so soon. Nintendo's the only one who really needs new hardware in the 2017/2018 time frame.

I vote Sony invest money to the DEA and keep the drugs/alcohol you're on away from the company.

Think its completely ludicrous that MS will release a new console in 2017. Even with Sony dominating with hardware and base install over MS. MS is still doing fine with software on xbox one. Plus with focus on first party I.p., win 10 integration, future updates to add features. Think its a bit early to worry about a new console from MS.

I'm willing to bet that the new Nintendo releases in 2017, and the next Xbox will be 2018-19. The PS5 will release in 2020. The NextBox and PS5 will support 4K gaming (with lots of games being sub-4K upscaled), while the Nextendo will only support 4K for videos and media.

I don't think there's anyway microsoft possibly cares about the xbox brand enough to front the cost for a new console in 2017.

It's not like it's selling miserably either, it's just not anywhere close to Ps4.

The Xbox One only has 8-9 7XXp games, 16-17 900p games and the remaining 170 games or so are 1080p, you're greatly dramatizing this consoles deficiencies.

When i see or hear about X1, i think of its exclusive resolutions. End of story.

Plus Microsoft has the chance of making the fundamental brain dead decision of starting 'next gen' like 2 years before their competitors do like Nintendo did, meaning Sony and even Nintendo can release hardware a couple of years after, when the real next gen was meant to start, and blow MS out the park specs wise.
