I have no problem with MS releasing a nicer version of the 360. I just would have appreciated it if they had done so at launch instead of 18 months later.

that's the whole point. It just shows that MS wasn't even confident in their own system, so they had to revise it. it's not a bad thing, they should just admit that the system wasn't future-proofed and this was a reactionary move to the PS3.

lol I love it when people just make the assumption that everyone needs a wireless connection, and therefore it's safe to tack on an extra 100 bucks......that's not biased at all.

And I really don't think enough people care about next generation discs to justify tacking on that price as well.   But I guess some people will go to any lengths to justify there purchases...even if it means ignoring that the ps3 is th e only console without a AAA exclusive.

Wired connections are superior quality anyways, so I don't see how a complaint against MS not supporting an inferior connection is justified.

I suppose the PS2 that had the harddrive (can anyone say major flop?) and the updated disc drive that "stopped" discs from being eaten... literally... wasn't a rerelease or update of the console either?

a) I do not believe it was done 18 months after the console's launch. Rather, it came much later in the console's lifespan.

b) Whose to say I approved of it? I dislike milking whether it comes from Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo.

My old Xbox had a HD, had an online environment with downloadable content, had dual analog sticks, had 3D graphics, and most importantly, had no redesign.

I have no problem with them offering a better model. I do have a problem with them offering it 18 months later and not at launch.

Adding an HDMI port and another 100GB of HD space doesn't mean MS did anything wrong. There not changing the actual hardware, thats fine. I have the $400 version, use the VGA cables with my HDTV, and there would be no difference getting the Elite version. Your post fails.  

Honestly I don't mean to sound like a "fanboy" but I just don't want the Wii to win this generation. It's not that because the hardware is inferior compared to it's more powerful competitors(X360, PS3) but in all honesty it's really a system that doesn't give the hardcore gamer the experience that the X360, and PS3 will offer.

There's many flaws in all the three systems-- in fact there's been so much ranting more so than any other generation. You look at this way:

Wii - No online service, gimmicky games(majority of it right now anyways)

X360 - Over-priced add-ons, and accessories.

PS3 - Expensive, lack of software availability.

Since all three manufacturers pushed for differences, in a way it's kind of bad. Because now more than ever, gaming has really gone mad.

Its the same console M$ have just added a bigger HDD ad a HDMI port and painted it black. Its not a redeisgn by any stretch of the imagination.

The console was made to take advantage of high definition tv and movie content on Live and so it has enough space to store a lot of content on the hard drive and the high quality output to do it justice. Anybody who adds a HD-DVD player to the overall price so that it costs more than the PS3 is missing the point, they usually fail to add a HDMI cble on top of the PS3's price as well ;)

Especially after roasting Microsoft for doing the same thing: "We view every single PlayStation consumer as an elite consumer. Meaning no one is going to get shortchanged at the end of the day, whether they bought one on day one or just yesterday"

there's no question the 360 has manufacturing problems...luckily mine hasn't died out yet, but i'll wait on the elite until they start using cooler chipsets
