@BenjaminBanklin: But you were so sure about yourself. 😂
I'm still sure. I'm not gonna let you concoct a lie. This should be an easily provable thing. The reward is proving me wrong.

Nah! I want the reward to be your account deletion. 😊
Nah! I wanna see them receipts crazy liar pants. I want to see that gold Sony ticket that's says you can have the game off at half price.
@goldenelementxl: not really - one of my friends worked for EA and she only got an employee discount on the games, which she shared with us. They don't get the games free (although I'm sure it varies by company)
That’s crazy to me. That must be an EA thing.
@BenjaminBanklin: It's the saddest thing on SW since that dude who pretended to be a chick for awhile lol.

He wants me to put up my account so he can go Photoshop some shit. LOLOL! That dude is all the way weird.
You can continue to ignore the success that GamePass has had and you can spend time evaluating their cost to run their operation. That is and will continue not a concern of mine.
I’m not ignoring anything. That’s the problem. You can look at the PR shine pieces, ask no questions and take it at face value if you want. The PR spin of these articles are acting as a form of marketing. It’s a common strategy. But you can’t come on this board and celebrate the PR numbers in one breath, and then ignore them and say it’s of no concern the next.

I am not referencing anything PR related. The original context of what I was responding to stated that Sony did it years ago and it didn't work out but that has not transpired with MS offering. That is it.
@onesiphorus: "Do you have to pay to subscribe to the New York Times in order to read its articles?"
Try opening them in the incognito mode sometimes helps. I also use it on sites that want me to accept cookies and I don't wanna.
Please tell how you can get the game for $0.00. I will wait. 😎
I don't know if that's even legit. You didn't get a discount from a dev either way. You've gone WHOLE crazy on this 🤣🤣🤣

I'm just gonna spitball here for a minute but couldn't it be possible that the dev bought the game using his/her discount and passed the savings on to Pedro?

Ding ding ding! We got a winner. 😊
The poor guy is bitter he has to spend $70 for Sony games meanwhile, I am enjoying the same game for significantly less. 😂
This shit keeps getting weirder. I'm questioning Pedro's whole existence right now. All this to say he's not paying for Sony games... that I'm not even sure he has. This guy is in a different reality than we are.

You can catch Pedro on MTV's Catfish lol.
@Pedro: If you really have someone you know on the Dev team and you wanted to support them you would pay for the game Full price.....as a teacher of students myself I honor my students talents and abilities by treating them as equals when they graduate and enter the professional field. I teach video editing and production, if I use my former students as a free lancer for a project I pay the rate they ask for. I don't ask for free labor or discounts, they deal with that enough from other people.
So if you are a teacher and you're asking for discounts from your students in the industry some teacher you are.....
I will miss System Wars.
Sure, it had issues as a "business model" but when it was "well done", it was great for gamers. Both Nintendo and Sega were so into it, that they developed some of the best games ever that are still played today. Same with Nintendo/Sony/MS despite everything that went down, the early/mid 2000's were filled with so many different options for different people, it was great.
But i get that it has to end. Business is not the same and things change. Nintendo went their separate way and MS is doing the same while PS seems to be the more "traditional" one left.

Oh brother....."you're not supporting your students by paying full price for the games" This has got to be the dumbest argument I've seen.
Cows couldn't be bigger clowns
@NathanDrakeSwag: notice how he suddenly vanished. Must be licking his wounds. Watch as he comes back with some silly one liner while making a fool of himself in the process. 🤣
Sorry for the double posting but this is what I have to say regarding "console wars" and it really stops being a console war ever since Nintendo abandon the war when the Wii launch. (Some say they left when GC came into the spotlight) Sony, MS, & Nintendo don't take this console war as seriously as fanboys have. MS is going into software business vs hardware, Nintendo always likes to do their own thing while keeping traditions alive with innovation, and Sony...Sony is Sony so let them figure out where should they go.
And this is the reason why I'm a PC gamer, I get everything and I want everything.
Pretty much this.
It's not so much that I dislike console, it's just not the best option (for me, at least).
TY for posting article, it was a nice insight to what is going on. Also confirms a lot of my suspicions (MS going software, Sony being Sony, and Nintendo sort of being the "artist" of the group and doing their own eccentric thing).
The console war isn’t dead... The way it’s being fought has evolved.
- Xbox buying up studios and starting Game Pass is their best way to reposition themselves in the war.
- Nintendo getting out of the power race, and combining their console and handheld markets was the best, most financially efficient way to improve their standing in the console war
- Sony has acquired studios, bought timed exclusivity and marketing rights in the same way Xbox has. They just aren’t pushing the subscription mode as hard. They are riding their momentum from last gen and observing the market. This is their best approach moving forward. They just better be able to react in a timely fashion of Game Pass and Xbox catch on
All 3 companies are fighting for your money and time.
The console war isn’t dead. The way System Wars is judging it just hasn’t changed. Calling the Switch a handheld is ignorant. Crowning the most powerful console as the winner has never reflected the real world. And niche exclusive movie games don’t move the needle as much as most people here would hope.

LOL. My former student offered me the discount. I didn't ask him . Now that I know he can get me a discount, I will utilize it. Equating this to free labor is asinine.
I can't believe I have 4 Sony fannies triggered. They are forced to pay full price meanwhile, I indulge in the same games for less. It is burning up their souls.
@Pedro: You got those clowns worked up real good. 👍😂
It is what I do. Seeing the moving goalpost and conspiracy theories is icing on the lavish cake.😂
You'd think that the Sony fannies would be grateful to you for allowing your students to make their newest $70 premium experience :P
Articles adds nothing new and doesn't even scrutinize vague representation/stats. Comes across as almost a paid piece.
After finally getting both next gen systems, I got a chance to spend a lot of time on Gamepass. I bought a year long pass for about 80 dollars and haven't had to buy a new game since buying Spiderman deluxe for PS5. I download the game I want to play on my phone, then when I'm sitting down to play one night, it's on the system ready to go. If I hate the game....uninstall, no need to sell on ebay or return to amazon, that also allows me to try much more content.
I hope Sony beefs up their services and allows users to play all their games day one, I'd definitely sign up for that.
The console war isn’t dead...
i know this is hard for "concerned fans" like you and fanboys in general to accept but it's the current reality..
i agree, the only thing these companies are competing for is time and money.. but that doesn't equate to "console wars"..
"Console Wars" implies that a person buys a single device and uses that primarily for their gaming needs.. for example, in the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube era, all three where fighting for the exact same slice of pie.. all three wanted to be the one box sitting under your television and that was their primary gaming strategy.. this simply isn't the case anymore..
Sony is the only company who's primary strategy is still to be the "only box under your television"..
Nintendo doesn't mind if the Switch is the secondary box under your television and the only box in your backpack.. being a "secondary device" has been their strategy since the Wii.. remember the "Wii60"?.. how are they competing with the Xbox 360 but at the same time promoting the Wii as a secondary console?.. it's simple.. because, they are no longer participating in a traditional console war anymore..
Microsoft literally doesn't care if you have their box under your television at all.. if you do, great!!.. but if you have a capable PC, also great!!.. if you pick up one of their upcoming dedicated streaming devices or use an Xbox TV app, great!!!.. if you just want to stream to your mobile phone, tablet, or laptop, it's all the same to them.. they just want you engaging with their software no matter which method you prefer and hopefully that's via a Game Pass subscription.. hence, they are no longer participating in a traditional console war anymore..
again, the only thing they all are competing for is time and money.. but they are no longer competing to take up the same space under your television as their primary gaming strategy..
the console wars are over and have been for a long time.. it's time for you to catch up to the current events of the industry..
---------
TL;DR
all three needing you to buy their console as your primary gaming device = console wars
one company needing you to buy their console as your primary gaming device, another company openly wanting to buy their console as a "secondary device", and another company who doesn't need you to buy their console at all in order to make money on new software =/= console wars
The console war isn’t dead...
i know this is hard for "concerned fans" like you and fanboys in general to accept but it's the current reality..

Nope
You nailed it with “they are fighting for your time and money”, but lost it at that single device blah blah blah.
They are still fighting for your time and money. They are just doing it in a different way. And just because their “consoles” don’t fit your definition from 2003, doesn’t mean anything. Their console is literally just the way the games are delivered. Whether it’s hooked to a TV, installed in your TV OS, able to be played on the go or on your office PC or laptop. THATS all that has changed.
And more people own more than one platform than you think.
They are still fighting for your time and money. They are just doing it in a different way.
everything you described in that second paragraph is exactly why the console wars are over.. "you nailed it"..
there can't be a "console war" if one company doesn't even need you to buy a console anymore .. there can't be a console war if one of the companies can sell their console to an entirely different market as a secondary device and/or a handheld ..
you're confusing the idea of people having limited time and money with the concept of the console wars.. McDonald's and Red Lobster are competing for your time and money if you're hungry.. that doesn't mean McDonald's and Red Lobster are in direct competition in the food industry..
Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are all competing as gaming companies, sure.. just like the companies who own Candy Crush, Clash of Clans, and AFK Arena are also competing for your gaming time and money.. does that mean they are also included in the "console wars"?.. of course not.. Stadia and Luna are trying to compete for your time and money so are they also included in the console wars?.. the answers to these questions are clear..
the primary strategies of these companies is what defines who they are competing with.. and there is only one company at this point who's primary gaming strategy is the same as it was from 2003.. you say that "doesn't mean anything" when it literally means everything to this conversation..
Even if the nature of the "console wars" has changed, is it a "good" trend that benefits the industry's health and gamers in general, or it is a "bad" trend that harms the industry and does not benefit gamers in general?
@onesiphorus: I think it depends on the type of gaming habits you have.
I've had times in my life where things like gamepass wouldn't have resonated with me... And more recently, I think it would to an extent.
Can't possibly know which trends are good or bad... They come at the hobby in different ways that benefit different types of gamers.
Also.... Engadget reports Microsoft is making their own streaming sticks...
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/xbox-cloud-streaming-hardware-game-pass-e3-2021-130019814.html
Console who?
exactly..
how are we supposed to be still counting console units sold as a measure of who's winning the console wars when one company is going to be putting their brand new games on TV apps and streaming sticks.. no console required..
how are we supposed to compare one company who needs you to buy their new console vs another company who's actively taking the need to buy a console out of the equation?.. how is that still "console wars"?..
the answers to those questions seem pretty obvious to anyone paying attention to current events..

I just wonder where all of you were when Sony came out with PS Now years before Game Pass came along 😄
@BenjaminBanklin: Still bitter that you are FORCED to pay full price while I enjoy ~52% off. 😂
