Next gen console spec's prediction thread

I predict that the next Xbox console will be out late 2010 , with at least 500gb hard drive, a new disk format , twice the graphics and 4 times the ram. I think it wont follow with numbers, it might be called something like the xbox ultima or something along those lines.

The next Ps3 will probably come out at around 2011, with specs simular to the xbox's, it may have a bigger version of the current Blu-ray disk. More than likely to be called Playstation 4

the next wii will probably be called the wii 2 or wii HD. It wii probably have a hard drive and maybe some attempt at online gaming.

Your thoughts?

personally am having such a great time enjoying the PS3, 360 and PSP that i dont really care about when the next wave of consoles will be out and what specs will they have...

So many great titles on offer for current-gen consoles and great ones coming up in 2009...

Xbox 360 had 8x the memory of its predecessor and PS3 had 16x that available in PS2. Thats not including the substantial jump in the speed and evolution of the CPU itself.

More then likely it will probably be even better specs then what you posted as technology gets cheaper and cheaper every year. Its hard to believe but next generation I guarantee that we'll be playing games that look like the movie Beowulf or the Polar Express 2 years into their life cycle.

Next gen will probably all be about the casuals.

Why? you may ask... well it's because good Sales > Happy gamers.

No you won't if Microsoft/Sony have learned anything, they've learned they can't really afford to start off with a 400 dollar price tag, I think a 300 starting price is likely for xbox nextgen and Sony, with how bad they are doing now who knows if they will make a PS4!

With the custom tweaks/mods/etc even todays TOP PC hardware struggles to max out Crysis and really your high if you think the next Xbox is going to have more power then 3 Nvidia GTX 280's, yes hardwares getting cheaper, but microsoft will NOT be able to get 3 GTX280's worth of GPU Power

Just in the same way the 360's GPU which amounts basically to the speed of a X1900XT is a far, far cry from faster then Three X800XT's and remember on top of that I'm of the mindset they will release a 300 dollar console so the gap between the 360 / 720 will be even smaller then the gap between the xbox / 360

Crysis on Very high running at 720P is what I think 2nd Gen Xbox 720 titles will look like (assuming it comes out between 2010 and late 2011, if it's held back past mid 2012 then that changes everything.)

I think the next generation will be an efficiency war. Microsoft and Sony won't mindlessly throw money at things to make them better. They will both go back to the drawing board and come up with consoles that are significantly more powerful than their predecessors but cheap to manufacture. In the current economic climate they simply have to change their ways. As for Nintendo... Well, who knows what they'll come up with next? Though their next console will certainly be HD and will have to have enough power to emulate Wii games.

The next consoles will be even closer to being pc like and soon gaming on pc will die off entirely, not next gen but maybe two more.

i'm calling a Wii HD out near 2 years before Xbox 720 or PS4, in 2011 with a dual core 2.2Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM, and 256MB VRAM, with 16GB flash memory, SDHC expandable slot (even though 16GB isn't much, think about it we can currently run anything off SDHC cards on wii, but devs are still limited to 512MB so they don't put a lot of DLC on Wii coz 512MB is too limitiing, but DL games don't usually come bigger than 3GB's so 8GB-32GB flash will make it a nice and neat small nintendo product but still with enuff memm so devs have no excuse not to give it DLC)

Maybe Quad Core 2.5Ghz or so, 2GB RAM and 1GB or still 512MB VRAM (In 360s case) because they will see the GCN/Wii upgrade pays off, they will want to launch immediately profitable hardware nex gen

i'm really more concerned for Wii HD honestly, as i want mah metroidz and zeldas in HD (Wind Waker sequel in 1080p? Orgasm.)
