What do you guys think of it? A new Mega Man Legends. I want this soooo bad. Too bad it might not happen.

I'm sorry, but it's time for Mega Man do die. He's had a long, (mostly) good life, and it's time to throw in the towel. I mean he should still be in easter eggs and stuff like in Dead Rising, but another is just going overboard.BigDaddyPOLO
If Mario and Zelda aren't dead yet then Mega Man doesn't deserve to die either.
Besides, doesn't anyone want to know if Megaman ever get back from Elysium.
Mega Man Legends 2 was left in a cliff hanger. That series deserves closure.

Oh but they do deserver to die. Apparentely Nintendo can't come up with something new so they have to cling onto something two decades old.[QUOTE="BigDaddyPOLO"]I'm sorry, but it's time for Mega Man do die. Well there are about a million Megaman games every year, wihile Mario and Zelda have about one game in the main series every 3 years
The only good mega man is 2D mega manhellsingfan666
Somebody hasn't played Legends I see.
I think Mega Mancould be an excellent FPS Adventure game like Metroid Prime. peaceful_anger
Legends already is an excellent TPS Adventure game, as is Legends 2. Its a shame they decided to kill them so early.
The only good mega man is 2D mega manhellsingfan666
The Legends series owned all other Mega Man series'. The only time a 3D Mega Man went bad was in X7. Did you even watch the video? They're planning on using the engine from Lost Planet. That's a guarnteed win!
I think Mega Mancould be an excellent FPS/Adventure game like Metroid Prime. peaceful_anger
oh god nooooo....
edit: megaman is perfect the way it is. Example: legends was an excellent rockman game. plz dont compare to metroid
Megaman, like Castlevania, just can't make the 2D to 3D jump very well. Fortunately, Devil May Cry has essentially become the 3D Castlevania, with the 2D series remaining on handheld platforms. What the future of Megaman is, I do not know. He is a wonderful character, but to say recent Megaman titles have been comparable to what the old school Megaman was - back in the day - is a hard claim to make.subrosian

That's why Gamespot gave MML2 an 8.2. Legends is an excellent Mega Man series that deserves closure.
Because Capcom refuses to advance the Mega Man series and decides to make rehash games Mega Man is decaying.
They need to give him a new look, 3d worlds, deeper RPG elements, and a mopre consisitant story between each game.
I hope they make a Mega Man on Wii. They should keep the 2d scrolling Mega Man on the portables (PSP/DS)and bring the next gen systems(PS3, 360, Wii) 3d worlds.

megamanbelongs on the wii. He could retain his awesome arcade style spastic shooting, and do so while moving into 3D. I dont think it should be FPS, but maybe a RE4 styled over the shoulder 3rd person shooter. Maybe pulled back a little more than in RE4 so you can see his whole body, and make megaman slightly transparent so he doesn't block your view. The camera angle is key here, so they should test different angles to see how they work. The bosses might need some retooling, since it might be difficult to keep track of an enemy the exact size and fighting style as megaman, unless they included some kind of lock on dynamic. Since it's megaman, I dont think that the lock on should be translated to aiming, just for looking at them. Maybe no lock on at all, if the cameras can be controlled good enough

Since Sony has been the host too the Mega Man Legends games it clearly belongs on the PS3. Or even the 360. NOT the Wii. It doesn't have the power to run a truly beautiful game and give a perfect picture of a next gen Mega Man. It'd be more like that last gen Mega Man on the Wii.
I would like to see Mega Man redone as a graphical spectical. So I have to disagree with you on the Wii thing. The PS3 or 360 is fair game though. I tend to lean more towards the PS3 though. highlander0659
dont get me wrong, having megaman fighting awesome looking robots and realistic settings would kick asss, but isn't there a huge trade off? You would have megaman, but fumbling the aiming with an analog stick. That's the main reason that megaman was such a failure in transition to 3d.
A much better compromise is to have it on the wii so that megaman could retain more of his roots, and for visuals emphasize artistic style over polygons, but still push as many polygons as the wii possibly could. That would be an incredible game that was just made for the wii's userbase. (megaman is awesome cool, but not too serious about it)
Lets see if this works!!!
Mega Manniversary Inafune chat It has some info on what the creator of Mega Man would like to do.

Are you kidding? There's several successful 3rd and 1st person shooters on the PS3 and 360. You don't need a gimmick to have fun. Besides, Sony consoles have been host to Mega Man games for a while now. Furthermore, all the latest Mega Man console games have been for SONY consoles and most of them have been exclusive. It would be on the PS3 first if it wanted to stay on track. After all Mega Man Legends did come out before Mega Man 64.

I found it to be, for lack of a better word, not Megaman. I would almost rather have a clas sic Square-Enix JRPG, with turn-based battles, for Megaman than see it as a Tomb Raider s tyle game. It just didn't have the same polish and fun factor for me in the jump.
Could it be done again, and made better? Maybe... but where does Megaman go in 3D? Adventure? FPS? JRPG? There are possibilities for it - I mean Devil May Cry created a 3D Castlevania, but as I've said, I do not know what the future of Megaman will be.

"gimmick"? you're spouting the company line of the anti-wii union here. You want the response: currently the wii is a gimmick because the games use the controller as a gimmick. If games integrate the controls to the point that they aren't just last gen games with different controls, it wont be a gimmick anymore. Games that dont use the controller as a gimmick currently include monkey ball, trauma centre, and RE4.
problem is that megaman is not like other shooters. When I played those 2d games I was tapping that button like I should have bought a turbo controller. Bullets all over the place. I got the same kind of experience from playing can shooter on warioware and the duck hunt style game on wiiplay. Those experiences lead me to believe that megaman on the wii would be a great thing.
A lot of people seem to think that megaman 'belongs' to sony. No, it doesn't. It's a capcom game, and they can put it on any console they want, and I'm sure they are seriously considering a megaman game on the wii for the reasons I stated

The Wii doesn't have the power to create the "Spectacle" that the Mega Man series deserves. The PS3 and 360 are have good gameplay and are capable of stunning visuals. The Wii really isn't that impressive. The controller is a gimmick. I bought a Wii a while ago and returned because it didn't wow me. It had very few features, poooor graphics, and a gimmick controller to try to justify people buying it. It's not worth the 250$ it costs.
Have you ever played Legends? It was done beautifully on the PS. It's a perfect fit for the PS3. You tried to imply that Mega Man belonged to Nintendo so that was just refuted. Did you even watch the video that started this thread. The creator talked about stunning visuals and the 'Lost Planet' engine. Those things especially the stunning visuals part automatically excludes the Wii.

actually, I never played megaman legends, but some comments on this thread have actually made me curious. There is just so much bad press about the 3d megaman games (mml is 3d right?). Ifigured there wasa reason that gametrailers made megaman the #1 worst transition from 2d to 3d franchise in that top ten, wihch was just the latest slam against 3dmegaman. (now that i think of it, mml on thepsone might have been thegame they showed as the abomination of megaman)I dont play games all the time, so I tend to stay away from games with that much badpress. I loved the 2d megaman games though.
I think you're being unfair about the wii.Your criticism works best against the wii's game library, not the console itself.
Did you play can shooter on warioware? Did you getgood at it? I did and it doesn'ttake a huge investment of my imagination to figure out that the same spastic shooting in that game could work really goodin megaman. At the very least, Capcom should research the possibility, make some early builds to test it out.
How about this? Capcom makes two megaman games. One on ps3/360, the other on wii. I want that to happen so that megaman wii could show what the wii is all about
oh, and I never implied that megaman belonged on a nintendo console. I said outright that the wii's controls would be excellent for megaman. I do think that you're implying thatmegaman belongs to sony, which isn't true. It's capcom, and megaman has just as healthy a tradition on nintendo consoles as sony ones, if not moreso for nintendo

If you've never played Mega Man Legends then you have no idea about what you're talking about. You immediately fail with your first statement but I'll humor you further.
If bad press is MML 2 getting an 8.2 on gamespot. Then you're right. Eventhough an 8.2 ranks as great on this site. You fail again. On game trailers they were referring to X7 and on. X7 was really bad though. The Legends series is brilliant and deserves closure on a dignified console.
The Wii is Wiik(weak). It can't make MML3 the beautiful spectacle that it deserves to be. Once the Wii has a game that matches Oblivion(PS3 or 360) then we'll talk.
Also, MML wasn't spastic, it was calculated. Warioware doesn't fit the bill. Did you watch the video I provided earlier? They want to use the Lost Planet engine. Have you at least played Lost Planet? That better fits the MML series.
Based on the interview I was watching earlier that's posted on this thread they weren't even considering makeing one for the Wii. I know this because they brought up Next Gen development costs. The Wii isn't that expensive to develop for. Clearly he was focused on the PS3 or 360.
The recent trend was pointed out earlier. It was never said in any way, shape or form that Megam Man belonged to Sony. You talking about Mega Man's roots was closer to saying that it belonged to Nintendo than I ever got to saying that it belonged to Sony.
What do you guys think of it? A new Mega Man Legends. I want this soooo bad. Too bad it might not happen.

A new Mega Man Legends would own. I'd buy it on day one.
It'd be best on the Wii, though, because of the third-person shooting aspects, and the fact that every other developer wants to put all of their spin-offs on the Wii...*sigh*
Yes i have played legends and it was horrible, horrible voice acting, horrible bosses, horrible not fun megaman 3D gameplay

That does not jive with my experience with the game, at all. It was slower paced than some people may like but I wouldn't call it "horrible" in any respect, except for maybe the VA.
