NFS Shift (PC) VS GT5 [Graphics Comparison]
This topic is locked from further discussion.
GT5 has better models, but the sharp AA and higher texture resolutions make the cars in Shift look less blurry. I still prefer the lighting and car models of GT5, but if Gt5 was on pc it would easily surpass Shift since the only thing Shift on pc has is slightly better textures.
They're pretty close. I'd say it's a tie, as they both win a few. This is great for GT5 though. Not many console racers can match the graphics of a PC racer, even if it is multiplatform game.
I cannot wait. :D I'm not a big fan of racing games, but Dirt 2 is going to be a nice tech demo to try out the new DX11 card that I'll buy someday. :DJust wait for Dirt 2 on the PC with DX11, it will be the best looking racing game ever, hang on Dirt 2 already is the best looking racing game ever!

Its not just a tech demo its a good game!
I'm not a massive racing game fan, but Codemasters just know how to hit a balance between arcade and sim that i like while also being the best looking!

It seemed like a straight-up sim when I played the demo. I couldn't go one lap without crashing.
Brilliant looking game, though.

Quoted for truth!
GRID on PC is the best looking racer at the moment, imo, with Shift as a close second.

I deifnitely think the lmabo was tocuhed up, but the Audi looks identical to ingame. I doubt it's touched up at all.
Shift on the PC looks better. Higher res models, higher poly counts, more AA, AF...
But I'd probably take GT5 over it as a game anyday, plus it still holds up nicely.
So, every post, eh? Every post you're gonna keep up the fanboy stuff? Why?GT5 >> GT5P > NFS: Shift >>> Forza 3
In terms of graphics...

Is it just me or are those two GT shots touched up/not in game?Faber_FighterIt's beyond touched up...it's a flat out lie. It's very funny to me that while fanboys are jumping all over the 5 people that complained on the Forza 3 fourms about bullshots (that are actually pretty close to what the game looks like, I might add) Then turn around and post bullshots of GT5 claiming that not only does the game looks like that but it also has better damage and phyisic than Forza 3 based off nothing more then bullshots. It's as if I'm they only one with a PS3 that played GT5P...I know what the game looks like but you still get people posting bullshots claiming ownage over Forza3....

They are both bullshots... NFS:Shift doesn't look that good on PC...You should play GT5P if you think that's not a bullshot. So, every post, eh? Every post you're gonna keep up the fanboy stuff? Why?[QUOTE="jakehouston88"]

[QUOTE="Shattered007"] They are both bullshots... NFS:Shift doesn't look that good on PC....Couth_lol are you kidding me? The PC version actually looks better than that when you have 4xAA and 16x AF. It also runs at a much higher resolution than that tiny pic Hold up...I'm gonna go take a screen cap...
I still can't get it dialed in to where I'm comfortable driving it. I've popped it in a few times now, and every session ends the same way - 15 minutes later, out goes Shift and in goes GT5P. Most of my gripes are with the steering (feels mushy, as though there's lag or something) and the FFB (it doesn't feel like 100% rack torque, which is my preference). I've never played any other sim that has this much oscillation in the steering. I might be happier with a gamepad, but at that point, I'd just play Burnout. Not to mention it's an excellent game…FFF gameplay (Fast,Fun,Forgiving)

Some pics of my modified GT-R. 8x AA and 16xAF. You even get effects on your windshield like dirt, shadows and the refleciton of your dashboard on the windshield. Like I said this one is modified. The stock interiors are a little prettier with all their leather and what not.

Remember that's a pic of GT5 not GT5p. If GT5p had better aliasing no one would have any complaints about the car models. Also all the new gameplay vids and recent pictures look exactly identical to that pic. High res car with the back round completely blurred out because apparently it looks like crap. I don;t care though as long as it has beautiful car models and fun racing.

Are you talking about Dirt 2 or Shift?
The only reason why I ask is my comment was directed towards Dirt 2…but in any event...I think I can help you with some settings that I found to work extremely well in Shift…

All I do is PrintScreen to get the screenshot, tab over to mspaint, paste it and save it. From there upload it to imageshack and it works 2. I'm assuming probably because of the resolution. Yours was 1280x1024. Mine was running 1680x1050. They look about the same to me. But my image on your monitor, you can probably see a difference?[QUOTE="Couth_"]

images get compressed when you upload them online, yours were probably not because of the resolution your running. He's running a much higher res than you.

Don'tmock the 1280x1024, i played my games at 1280x1024 for 10 years! Its sweet res! I'd still be at it if my poor old CRT hadn't of blown, now iam stuck with monitor with 1680x1050 :( :P
The differences between the models are pretty clear. In lighting Shift definitely is better, but thats compared to prologue. :|

At the end of this year I'm planing a fully new build... Think I might be just buy a 42 Inch Samsung TV instead of another monitor...I'm going overkill with the build :)You can use FRAPS to get good BMP screenshots, and nice GT bullshots. Why dont you show some in-game @ 720p so we can see all the jaggies?
those pics only made it more evident that GT5p & GT5 look amazing even when compared to a PC game (NFSbeing amultiplat is not an excuse here).... I dont understand why people complain considering how the car models in GT5p didnt show much of a difference compared to a recently released PC game..

Of course it is. When making the game, the developers had the lowest common denominator in mind; in this case the Playstation 3 (and, of course, PSP, although, as far as I'm concerned, it was developed by another company) and Xbox 360. Due to dated hardware, these two are undeniably holding the PC version back (as with most multiplats) in terms of graphics.
Had Need For Speed: Shift been built as a PC exclusive, higher amounts of AA and higher resolution (as well as textures) would not have been the only advantage over Gran Turismo 5/P in the TCs pictures. That said, Gran Turismo 5 looks really impressive for a 7900 GPU, though, evidently, some of the screens posted are touched up.
