Bandai Namco and Level-5 have confirmed that Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, the sequel to the PS3 and DS hit, will be launching on PC as well as PlayStation 4 later this year, simultaneously worldwide. This is a change from what we had known until now, which was that Ni no Kuni 2 would be a PS4 exclusive.

Ni no Kuni 2 is developed by Japanese video game studio Level-5 Inc. As with the original game, it will see some Studio Ghibli involvement, albeit in an unofficial capacity this time- with participation of the former Studio Ghibli animator Yoshiyuki Momose in the game's development, and music by Joe Hisaishi.

The original Ni no Kuni on the PS3 was a largely well received JRPG in the vein of classic games that went on to sell over a million copies worldwide- that said, it was also very heavily flawed, and hopefully, this sequel will take the chance to address some of those flaws. I can't wait to play it when it launches later this year.

Well that is good. We will be able to see more gamers have the ability to play this game. I will now look at getting for Microsoft Windows 10.

This Manticore approves. Ni no Kuni is brilliant and should be enjoyed by more gamers. The lems are still getting owned left and right. It seems that even with Play Anywhere more games are going PC/PS4 than PC/xbone. It seems xbone is indeed irrelevant.

The only issue I had with the first one is that it was too damn easy. I think I never had to actually stress myself over beating any enemy or boss in the game. Maybe only the minigame where you had to control two opposite moving characters at the same time walking on some platforms without falling on a cliff was the only part in the game that I had to make some effort. Apart from that the game itself was beautiful.

The first one's battle system fell apart about 10 hours in. Charming game, but pretty terrible otherwise, in my opinion.

Cool. As long as more people can play it.

I'm likely to pick up the PS4 version when it launches.

@charizard1605 I felt there was plenty of potential in the first title. Iron our all the creases and there is a really strong RPG game in there.

-Improve the partner AI so you didn't have to babysit them, and improve their decision making algorithm.

-Improve the way you obtain familiars.

-Work on the control scheme for the combat system. Make flicking through actions and player movement easier to do at the same time. The shoulder buttons worked better than the D-Pad but I still feel there is a better solution there.

@jumpaction: Yep, as I said in the OP, the first game was flawed, but has a pretty strong base for them to build off of. I hope they make things less hectic and tedious, and more manageable, in the sequel.

I don't care really much as long as the port is not broken

I'm mostly talking about the first game sucking- if the sequel also sucked, but the port was not broken, you'd still end up with a good port for a bad game, and that's no good for anyone :P

Yeah, I really fell in love with it at first... then I kept on playing it, and the more I played it, the less I wanted to play it. It was pretty disappointing lol, I had wanted a nice HD old school JRPG. Little did I know it would take this gen for that wish to be fulfilled lol.

I enjoyed the first one, but I remember it being too annoying for me to plat. I gave up when I had to collect rare drops of a rare monster in some ice cave. I remember playing for hours when I finally decided to stop it and never went back to it.

Yeah the same, i remember the demo and enjoyed it from that, especially as it was kinda of sold on a pokemon esk vibe and just found the whole thing dull apart from the art style

This, plus it gets stupidly tedious and trite as more time goes on, and the controls simply cannot handle what it wants to do, so that it's not actually fun to be running around putting up with the game's mechanical deficiencies.

@charizard1605: its safe to say unless a game is directly funded or developed by a studio owned by sony, microsoft, or nintendo, the game can end up as multiplatform.

the game was interesting story wise at the beginning but the gameplay was pretty boring. i think i made it 3-4 hours in back in 2013 or 2014 when it came out and havent touched it since.

From a gameplay perspective, it takes 2-3 hours to open up and get interesting. From a story perspective, I found it to be pretty gripping right away- and if you enjoy good mystery, thriller, or horror storytelling, you should be able to enjoy it right away too.

@charizard1605:

Also, I would like if they expanded even more on the personality of the dungeons. The opening puzzle of Ding Dong Dell sewers was nice. I like how visually distinctive the dungeons were and I'd like if they kept with that.

It's a flawed game but plenty of potential. Like you said, there's a good foundation there.

The problem there was, the dungeons had a lot of personality... but the actual dungeon design was terrible. Which seems to have been a problem with the game in general haha.

Yeah, I hope they can work on the shortcomings, there's a pretty good JRPG waiting in there somewhere.

There were an awful lot of dead ends and paths not worth exploring. The design could have been way more cohesive or rewarding to those willing to go off-track. Also some of the branches were just needlessly long. Lots of work there too.

Hell yeah. The first one was pretty cool so it's good to see that more people will be able to play this game. I love it when exclusives branch out onto other platforms. Gamers win.

@the_master_race: Sony published Nioh, so a PC port seems... less likely, though not impossible.

Persona 5 is Atlus made, sure, but Atlus are owned by Sega, and Sega are pretty good at PC support.

@the_master_race: Sony published Nioh, so a PC port seems... less likely, though not impossible.

Persona 5 is Atlus made, sure, but Atlus are owned by Sega, and Sega are pretty good at PC support.

yeah , don't 4get Sony will publish Death Stranding too

I'll have to replay the first one again soon. One of the few games I bothered to platinum it. Oh yes, I can play the superior version on PC for the sequel now! As Marcus Fenix would say, Nice!

Gosh SW is now a so boring place. Everybody is so civil and educated. In the old good times the titles would be "OMG cows have been owned", "Cows am cry", "PC Master Race!!!". Now ps4 loses an exclusive and everybody congratulates each other. YOU BECAME TOO SOFT. Fight !!! Let's make SW great again !!!

Just kidding.
