I think this video clears up any confusion on the graphical improvements of Sigma 2. Now I just have to hope the co-op is awesome as well. http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/25688

Here's a series of screen shot comparisons that show the difference even further. http://www.gameswire.net/comparisons/ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-playstation-3-vs-xbox-360-comparison_26.html

hmm, not a total overhaul difference, but definitely an improvement. Most noticeable is the clarity upgrade, and the much better particle rendering. Still, what do you expect from a years worth more of work? A downgrade would be nothing more than career suicide for the developers.

They look nearly identical with some different lighting in some environments.

I'd disagree with the lighting. I'd say it looks more natural in the 360 version.

The textures in both look subpar compared to other PS3/360 titles on the market, though.

Actually the cut sceen for the PS3 version was blury, but the gemeplay was sharp and vivid..the opposite is true for the xbox360 version. The cut sceen was sharper then PS3 but the gameplay was blury.

demo speaking the game is better graphically, but it isn't better in performance, there are some slowdowns and other issues even wz fewer enemies now..........but i am sure they are demo related and they will be fixed in the final game, can't wait.

The Lighting on the PS3 does look a bit more unnatural, and there's an obvious improvement with specular maps, but it fits the style of the game.

I think you guys need to watch it in HD before making comments. Anyway I'm going to say once again the differences aren't significant enough to worth mentioning other than the already known blood. But I'm looking forward to the other characters and co-op mode, not for graphical improvements.

Graphics don't make the game, the gameplay and enjoyment factor are what make a game worth buying.

Yeah seriously, its either just a glitch or Ryu is doing some special move or something. Anyway I like how much more the colors show up in the PS3 version though the biggest problem for me is I cant tell the difference from me and the other ninja dudes. Why didnt they make it the Pink Ninja Clan or something, it would be way easier to see who I was fighting.

The pic on the opening page is enough to keep it a rental for me. At the shoulder socket where his arm hung there is a swirl of purple stuff? No thanks, NG2 was more than good enough and I loved the gorey combat presentation. No need to drop $60 on this.

Blurry? So even if Sigma 2 really is less blurry, that's still a 'huge' graphical improvement?

 why do people dislike the omission of massive gore so much. Black or the "original" didn't have nearly as much as 2 (as from what I can remember) and it was faaaaaaaaar superior. I've played the demo for this and 2 for the box and it feels much better on the ps3. I don't know, maybe it was music that got me while playing with ayane (sp?)

I was so psyched when I read the article detailing NG2 6 mos. before release. Yes the previous ones weren't bloody, but does that mean some of us can't enjoy the change in the presentation and not like the decision to go backwards? The originals also did not have weird purple mist in the combat either. NGS2 is looking like an excellent game. But for some of us multi console owners and bloody samurai movie fans, there seems little reason to do more than rent it.

really, I guess that's a fair explanation. But, 2 seemed as though there was less substance to it, and the only selling point was the gore. I'll admit myself, it was pretty awesome to dismember limbs and to see the blood splatter:D, but that alone was not enough to overshadow the lameness (for the lack of a better/nicer word:() that was ng2. Ninja Gaiden 2 was definitely superior to the original in terms of gameplay, which is what matters most, though it was still a major disappointment. Love it nonetheless.

The differences are minimal, and I'd say they come out even in the end. Only differences are anti-aliasing (which is better on 360) and contrast is up to the player. In the first cutscene on the PS3 you can see shadows in between the ridges of Ryu's mask (not on 360), but on the 360 I believe Ryu has better character-lighting (subjective I guess). Depending on the area sometimes the PS3 has better lighting, and other times the 360 has better lighting. :P Yeah...just a bunch of nitpicking that doesn't really matter.

That's cool, I can respect your opinion. I didn't find NG2 lame. I found the camera frustrating at times and I actually am used to NG being frustrating. What startles me is the reports of the camera still being a problem in Sigma 2. I figured that would be priority one since a lot was made of it. Instead it seems that they prioritized breasts (who wouldn't) and less gore. Sigma had additional character and boss battle that was ok, but it didn't make the game better, imo than NGB. I still bought Sigma, but the cleaning up of the presentation is my biggest turn off to NGS2.

Really would it kill you to admit the ps3 version looks better, the textures are quite the upgrade over the 360 version you can clearly see the difference from the screenshots

Agreed. I remember getting the issue of PSM with it on the cover and being excited to read about it. Then in the article there was a side bar called, "there will not be blood" mocking the film title. When I read that, I felt my anger rage. What is the point of this change? The change to gorey and graphic was seen as so cool and Kill Bill vol 1 like awesome. The reason was add purple mist and make the combat more balletic........make combat more like ballet? I was heartbroken as I have Sigma 1, NGB, NG2 and am a huge fan. This was so preposterous to me.
