Think 3D isn't important to gameplay? Think again.

Though the 3D effect certainly applies to gameplay in a critically different way than a Wii Remote or touch control, it nevertheless changes the way a game is played. It changes the way a gamer is able to perceive the worlds created by developers. It's different than pressing A or swinging a device to hit a ball, but it's important nonetheless. Just as increased graphics afford developers the ability to change environments and levels, so does the ability to add greater depth.

It didn't really change anything for me, it was just the same as playing it games in 2D.

i wouldnt recommend playing 3D longer than a hour or two without a break anyway , although 3D is the best visual experience ive had till now , its more exhausting for eyes than regular graphics (speaking bout ps3 3D games , didnt play 3DS yet)

The problem is the small screen, having 3D on a handheld is just underwhelming, but I never tried it, so I will put my final verdict on hold.

I got to play with a 3DS a few days ago and i have to admit im intrigued by it afta seeing it does actually work. Whether the games will actually take advantge of the 3d and other features properly is anyone guess entirely but i am thinkin of buyin one once it drops.

My thinkin is that if i trade my regular DS in i can get one for not alot of money:D

I seem to be an odd ball when it comes to stereoscopic 3d. My eyes feel strain for the first 10 or 15 minutes, but once they adjust I can watch for extended periods.

3D can potentially change the way a game is played. Take a platformer it would be easier to judge the distance of a jump in 3D then it is to judge it then 3D ploygons on a 2D screen. There are some ways around it like moving the camera above your character or moving the camera to the side of the character but since the screen is 3D it gives you added depth perception so now developers can make the crazy levels found in Sidescrolling platformers in 3D.

Before the developers had to tone down their ideas when it came to level design because some things don't work on a 2D screen so they were limited by the lack of depth perception. But now that in 3D it is easier to judge the depth between platforms the developers don't have to tone down there ideas.

They can make the game harder by making it easier. (It is easier since it is easier to judge the distance that is why for Mario 64 Nintendo added the life gauge to kind've give the players a chance to try it more then once without dying. But since it is easier to judge the distance Nintendo is going back to the 2D structure where you get hit you become smaller if you get hit when your small your dead.)
