With these fantastic thread titles, you should work for Kotaku, or some other inteligent game sites like SDF.
She's right, you know. The core are never satisfied. The interviewer starting putting all these rules on to her list, like those in SW (exclusives, new IPs, etc), to make it harder to list. Games are games.
[QUOTE="HarlockJC"]In a way it's funny all the hate Nintendo gets, people say they don't make enough core games in the last 2 and half years we have got SMG, Zelda, MP3, AC, Paper Mario, Mario Kart, SSBB, Warioland, FE:RD and Punch Out right around the corner. That is a lot of core Nintendo titles in such a short period of time. FirstDiscoveryYes i love these lists - Everything and anything - Unannounced games - Games yet to come out Offcourse, all HD games are shooters and nothing more than flashy graphics:lol: You're trying too hard. No one here has said HD consoles have only shooters. And, from the games he listed, only one hasn't been released.

I also play HD shooters??? So I am not sure what you are getting at.

Doom was probably the first FPS to spark developers and really interest the public, but it was Halo that impacted the mass market and lead FPS's into this generation. You should probably look up some gaming history before you come to System Wars.
It's not "insatiable" - it's simply a refusal to accept an ill-fitting product when other companies are willing to cater to specialized tastes. If Nintendo ever wants to win the core dollar again, they will have to reform. Currently, there's little financial incentive for them to do so, in the future, that may change."I would never ever, ever expose myself to Reggie playing Zelda." Good article to see what er thoughts are..she is right though, it seems Nintendo cant win with their 'core' gamers. "it's an insatiable appetite that core gamers have"

In a way it's funny all the hate Nintendo gets, people say they don't make enough core games in the last 2 and half years we have got SMG, Zelda, MP3, AC, Paper Mario, Mario Kart, SSBB, Warioland, FE:RD and Punch Out right around the corner. That is a lot of core Nintendo titles in such a short period of time. HarlockJCThose aren't core titles :| The "Wii versions" of these games have NOT been specifically tailored to long-time highly-skilled gamers, they were released with compromises for the general market. Punch Out, Wario, Brawl, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing - core titles? Those are meant to appeal to those interested in Nintendo franchishes, women, children, families - not a specific hardcore gamer. - We were looking at Metroid Prime as a hardcore title on the GameCube, when it was harder, when it wasn't trying to be Halo, when it was willing to be punishing in exchange for a great depth - not now when it's the Wii's attempt at adding shooter elements to the console... - The whole problem here is people don't understand why Mario 64 was "core" and Super Mario Galaxy isn't. Mario 64 was on the cutting-edge graphically, control-wise, gameplay wise. It was defining what core platformers would be like for that generation - Mario 64 set the standard. Mario Galaxy didn't do that at all. It wasn't re-inventing some genre and leading the pack in what other hardcore games would be created. Ocarina of Time was the golden standard exploration / puzzle / world-rpgs faced in the N64 / PS1 era. No one was judging Fallout 3 based on Twilight Princess. - That's the difference, and being stuck with so-called "hardcore Nintendo titles" that are fundamentally refined N64-era gameplay reeks of not enough investment in the market. And that's fine, let them do that - they're making money hand-over-foot, but let's not pretend they haven't said "why bother?" to the old-school hardcore market.
wtf? that was horrible... did she seriously try to "prove" that wii fit is a core game????
and
"So we cannot win! Oh my god, we can't win, you guys say "bring us some of your old franchises," we do that, "well, no, no we want new IP" come on, ah, oh my god, we can't satisfy, tell me that we can satisfy you guys?!"
WE WANT BOTH YOU MORON! the core audience would be satisfied with a constant flow of quality games. Look at the PS3 owners. theyre as happy as can be because they have an amazing lineup this year... they are satisfied. the coreWii owners aren't satisfied because they have nothing to look forward to, and nothing to keep them busy! how do they not realize this?
I will agree with her though that third party is looking Strong for the Wii this year, I just can't help but get that vibe I got with the whole response to the PS3 Version of TLR.
My god.. I just just don't know how any real gamer out there can support Nintendo right now. Their telling me I cannot be satisfied? Don't make me laugh Nintendo. I've been satisfied with all their consoles up until the Wii. The Wii is a load of garbage compared to the NES, SNES, N64 and Gamecube. You expect me to just sit back watch all these crappy shovelware titles aimed at my aunty come out while I get the odd quality game every 1 year or so. While the competition gets 100fold ammount of quality games. Yes I'll be totally happy with that Nintendo. You know whats right for me. :|
Not true. Not even a little bit. I have been very satisfied by Microsoft and Sony's first party offerings this generation.no first party does.

haha sheeps saying other consoles have to many FPS with HD graphics that are useless for them at least lol and they hype The Conduit rofl how can it get better than this? I still want to know why sheeps when it come to naming great games they have on there console are always name 2years+ old stuff or Zelda/RE4 ports?SyferonikDoing a quick glance at the thread, the only person I see doing this is FirstDiscovery, but then, it was a quick glance and it doesn't seem like others are saying anything to this effect.
That interview had a little "I'm rich ****!" feel to it.
I would have allot more respect if Nintendo just flat out said "We pander to the market that makes us the most money.. and right now that's casuals"
For a company, that's not a bad thing at all. But for me, I'll find my games elsewhere.

I think he's more interested in seeing it flop than people are interested in playing this game. It has potential, it's a wii FPS with online. There aren't many serious attempts at those on the wii. What am i saying this for... he knows all that. We'll see whether it works out. I think Muramasa is much more hyped.
Were you reading the same interview I was? Almost the entire interview was about why people who say what you're saying right now don't really give Nintendo the credit they deserve. That interview had a little "I'm rich ****!" feel to it.

I don't know who's decision it was to hire her (probably Iwata's), but they were right on the ball when they did. I loved how she used logic to tear the misinformed internet arguments apart, especially her reasoning behind Wii Fit.Tylendal
are you joking? that was awful logic.. her reasoning is: a core gamer bought wii fit, so wii fit is a core game... EVERYONE knows that wii fit is a casual game (if it's even considered a game). core gamers can buy casual games, but that doesnt make them hardcore games...

Why not? What makes a game core if not the nature of those who bought it?If the reason not many core games are coming out is because i bought a copy of Wii Fit, then **** this ****.

No i think You can draw a line between core and casual but it's constantly crossed by the audience. Therefor it doesn't matter when looking at it from a developers perspective.
They should listen to the audience but not indefinitely. Like she states the audience likes above all to be surprised. And the audience doesn't know too well what it really wants. It's very popular for the audience to say this and that, but it is not in accord with what is happening.

Do you know that for a fact? I personally have many core gamer friends who own Wii Fit. Maybe it's not a core game, but you can't deny it's had appeal with core gamers. Please Log In to post.
