"This industry is cyclical in that a system's sales peak in the third calendar year," Fils-Aime said. "The fact that we've seen a decline year on year is standard."

Eight drops in nine months? That doesn't sound standard to me.

At the insane pace the Wii was selling at for so long, a slump is understandable, especially in light of the incredibly weak global economy. Considering video games are a relatively high ticket luxury item, I am not surprised.

But the Wii is the cheapest one here. Look at the 360/ps3 performances - They went up.

More people with disposable income already have Wiis is a possibility. And the 360 and Wii are the same price, aren't they?

Last year was a record year for the Wii. It wasn't going to be a record forever. That is basically all there is to discuss.

And supposedly everyone in Japan already has a DS, but they keep on selling anyway.

And cheapest version of 360 (I think) is 170 USD - but that's the bare-bones arcade version

There are three different versions of the DS, not including colors and other styles. Don't underestimate hardware revisions on sales *points at the slim PS3*.

This pretty much sums it up. I don't understand why a console that sells so well for so long is expected to stay that way forever. Sales gotta drop sooner or later no matter how popular your merchandise is.

PSP Gois a hardware alternative, not a hardware revision. Revisions are designed to completely replace the previous models, which the PSP Go was never designed to do.

So OP, you just went ahead and did this thread anyway huh?

Let me enlighten you.
Bloomberg is meant for stockholders and analysts who benefit from knowing about the current value of their (or their client's) shares in the marketplace.
The reason why they seem to be hitting hard on nintendo is because the value of their shares are currently dropping. Typical market fluctuation

What they DONT say (mainly because this article is not meant for the general public) is that Sony and MS's gaming divisions are valued WAY below nintendo's.

Sony is STILL a risky company to go out and bet the farm on, and the company is STILL leaking money since their mother product was launched.

Their stock-holders know this; its understood on their part, so theres no need to point out the obvious. But because its currently going up, they shine a positive light on this rather unprecedented event. Thats how these outlets work, they always focus positively on raising markets and badly on slowing ones, regardless of how far apart they are.

Basically, you accomplished nothing here. They are just cheering for the two little guys who gained a little boost, but still run 5 laps behind the leader who momentarily slowed down to scratch his nads.

Hardly something to celebrate, but hey, a party is a party! Lets have it for the little fellas!!!

every console has its sales slump the only thing that matters is profit , and nintendo makes enough of that

and wii still out sold the competition so what is this post again rubbing some old news that every one knew was gonna happen ,,

the demand has caught up with the supply ,

last moth sales prove wii is in o danger

just 1 million shy of last year but ps2 never had that kinds of success , nope they were abougt half a million amonth

by the way i agree with a very funny post ,

what you are trying t do is cheer not only 2 things that are 5 laps down

whos only gain a minimal gain , ,

while the other just takes a time out but when games like nsmb come and sell 2 million plus anothr million in japan

sales skyrocket thn youll be here saying sales dont matter

well lets look shall we sales may have decline but not enough for sony to catc at this junction

in japan sales thei going back and forth

in us and other territories wii is leading

so in reality its not helping sony
