Nintendo expects to sell 5 million 3DS's by March 2011

While Nintendo has not formally announced a timeframe for project 3DS, their financials speak a different story. According to their expected Nintendo DS and 3DS sales (they combine both sales into one category) our estimates indicate that Nintendo is expecting the 3DS to sell 5 million units by March 2011. Given historical sales of the Nintendo DS, which coincidently sold 5 million units through March 2005, Nintendo is likely to announce that the 3DS will be available in at least two regions beginning in November 2010. Additionally, they are likely to reveal the project's actual name. However, don't expect any official pricing strategies until September, at the Tokyo Game Show, and that's likely to be in Yen.

What games could Nintendo possibly have for an October/November release? We know Level 5 is making a game, and EA (possibly their announced 3D game), but what could Nintendo have on top of all of their Wii development:

1. Mario
2. Metroid
3. Zelda
4. Wii Party
5. Pikmin 3

I will get it day 1, it just sounds so cool to play in 3D on a handheld. Plus cant wait to see the graphics it pumps out.

Since the DS is still selling over 500K a month 4 years after its release, I think this should be fairly easy to obtain.

im not getting it unless it has better graphics than the ds... maybe ps2/gamecube graphics or something would be nice. i dont really care about 3d and i NEED a new upgrade from my ds phat. so if this thing turns out being cool then ill get it. i hope u can turn the 3d off though or something..Bangerman15

They say there will be a switch on the handheld to turn 3D off and play on 2D instead.

They said they are stepping up their anti-piracy and I hope they do but I also hope it doesn't hurt the customers like DRM does.

Some people give hints at download only games which would kind of suck.....

I'll never buy it...even if theres a zelda exclusive game on it. That's just pushing me to far...

I don't get this. Why do you want a console on the go? What's the point of having regular 3D games that becomes sort of mini versions of what can be played on a console *looks at PSP*?

Lol What! Why would you buy it if you wanted to turn the 3D off? That would have been like buying a Gameboy Color and wanting to turn the color off. It just sounds ludicrous to me.

That's kinda dumb, why would you want to turn the 3D off? 3D is the main attraction for the 3DS, if you just want better graphics just wait for the PSP 2.

I could easily see the D-pad be replaced by an analogue-stick.

The D-pad isn't really needed in itself and an analogue-stick is basically the same thing but more comfortable.

The D-pad on the DS is hardly the best of it's kind so maybe it's time to move on.

well if they use 3d space they might use analogue.. i don't know. What i do know is that i'm buying this :D
I don't have any money at the moment but i would get a job just to play their next handheld.

It's the DS, so I wouldn't be shocked. :P
