Nintendo games are based too much around letting anyone win, their "family factor", letting 8 year old kid beat his dad. Mario Kart depends on random items, Strikers is weak as hell online because people just spam moves and items and moves can be lob sided. In SSBB people will spam moves and commit suicide when they get 300% to stop people getting the kill, people disconnect on purpose when your about to win all the time. If your older then about 14 Nintendo games just don't work online. Unlike shooter where the bets shot wins, racers where the most skilled drivers win and football games where tactics can work.

I LOVE nintendo to hell, its all i play, but just online doesn't work when based around having fun, because lets face it, if your good you want to win. I think ill be sticking to 1-4player wii games now.

And I'm sure committing suicide at 300% damage would be very helpful in SSBB if you're playing stock. :P

Mario Kart depends on how you use your items and if you are fast around the curcuit Mario Kart is one game that is based on skill and Smash Bros Brawl will be the same. You have to earn your win in Mario Kart if you know how to powerslide and know all the shortcuts in the race then it is based on skill.

Uh... have you ever played Gears or Halo 3 on XBL?  There're a lot of adults on there that act like they're 14 years old.

"C'moooonnn guys veto this map!  It sux!  Ahhh, you guys are b*****s!"
"Stop picking up the sniper rifle, I'm working on an achievement!"
"OMG you got killed, you're a horrible teammate!  Now I'll kill you ensuring that we'll lose because I'm just that petty!"
"EVERYBODY RUSH!!!! Sure It got us all killed like 13 times but it'll work this time!  Hey, nobody rushed!  You guys are b*****s!"
"OMG you actually killed me!  You must be modding because I'm so awesome nobody could kill me!"
"Quit stealing my kills I'm leaving!"

Yeah, you have to listen to that crap all the time, and god forbid you should ever point out to them that it's JUST A GAME.  And as for Nintendo gameplay (whatever that means) not working online, there are a couple million people who own the DS that would disagree with you.  Mario Kart, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Starfox, I dunno they all seem to work pretty well to me.

Of course you have to play with the right people to have a good online experience... but that's the same in games like Halo too.

You realize Nintendo has been making online games for the DS right? Aside from the action replay codes there is nothing wrong with it's online system other than maybe friend codes(which aren't as big a deal as some peopole make it out to be).

You could in SSBM to my memory, so I don't see why not in this one too.

As long as Nintendo patches the system software to keep cheaters out, something that would be difficult or impossible to do on the DS, then the Wii online should be just fine.

any weeknesses suffered by online games on nintendos platform are problems that are going to be suffered on every platform. every online community consists of its sore loosers and people with no sense of sportsmanship. PC had it from day 1 all those years ago. Xbox live is definately no saint. PSn isnt exactly going ot a civil haven either and of course wii online is going to have its fair share of dorks.

as for game balancing.....well overall i see no problems with niontendo games specifically. however the lack of a patching facility on wii and DS is kinda narly. its very hard to get a game perfectly balanced for online play on the first go. even blizzard cant do it....there constantly rebalancing their games through patches.

Your post doesn't make any sense.  For one thing is these games didn't work online then they wouldn't already be successful in the online area.  Mario Kart DS is probably still one of the best Wi-Fi games on the DS, and I rarely have any issues with playing the game online.

The things you just mentioned apply to any game, not just a Nintendo game.  You're generalizing too much.  These problems aren't problems with the games, they are problems with the people who play them.

NOt at all, you can drive and drift the perfect race but if the 3 8year old kids behind you get a sick array of items your in for it, and if you do manage to skill to the finish post everyone else just disconnects. Counter Strike (apart from cheaters) is based around skill and most other pc games, and most ps3 and xbox360 online games are. Nintendo games can never have that.

This comment should be stickied. Seriously man, this could be true for ANY online game. If someone is losing at Forza, disconnect. Same deal. The only arguable debate right now with Wii online is whether the FC will have any affect on how good it will work.

That's not true at all. I can perfectly drift and get a half a lap ahead of everyone, get hit by a spiny shell, lighting, and possibly a few red shells and still come in first. It sounds like you just suck at the game or countering certain items with your own. That's what we call :o strategy. And like I have already said in a different post, you can disconnect from any online game whether PC, 360, or PS3, it doesn't matter. As for that last statement, that is dumb. You honestly believe that because Nintendo is onthe lable there is not skill? Have you played Hunters? That is extreme skill? SSBM is very intense skill. Just because these games have a casual level to play on, doesn't mean that they can't get hardcore, you just need to stop whining and break through that wall.
