1. 3rd party support sucks right now because the wii is a surprise hit. good games aren't made in 5 months.  we'll see much better just like we did with the ps2 once devs got used to it and spent time on the games.

2. the importance of "core gamers" or "hardcore gamers" is over blown. if they meant anything then critically acclaimed new IP's that weren't popular would still sell well. most hardcore gamers seem just like casual fanboys with and overactive sense of self worth.

My only concern is how arrogant 3rd parties have become regarding the Wii's userbase.  They're telling Wii owners what they like instead of putting a game out there to see if it sells.

You'd think if you so obviously misjudged the market leader to the point where you were developing all of your best games for the losing console of the generation, you'd be just a little more humble.

Thing is, I don't care about #1. I'd rather have a technologically capable console than a technologically inept one, regardless of which sells more. The Wii is old tech. I could see it as a complement to a Box or Trey but not as a primary console.

Anyway, look at the polls, Sony is still one of the most valuble brands in the world (in more than just gaming), ps3 is the most wanted system (making it's prospects good for every time it gets a price drop), and the wii has sold 6 million consoles in 6 months, if they keep it up, they'll still sell less than ps2 or 1 did in there lifetime, it's less amazing than sheep (or anyone) seems to think it is.

 Sure, if they pick up steam wii could be the biggest console and DS could be the biggest handheld ever, but, I'm sure sheep thought the N64 and the GC might be that too, the fact is, it's only the begining, and all doom and gloom statements (for any of the 3 companies, or devs...) are premature, and fanboyish..

I wasn't comparing it's power. i was comparing the quality of the initial support. remember when they looked worse than dreamcast? support got better. why wouldn't you expect the same for the wii if it's the most successful console as well? it won't look better than ps3/360 games but it won't be the crap we see today either.

Thats funny though though, I was always under the assumption that the GTA series was the ultimate casual game. 

They'll look better than they do now, but so will PS360 games. The gap will never get any smaller. The Wii will never, ever be able to play even Half Life 2 or Far Cry at the same level my PC could three years ago. That's just not enough for me.

This is going to be the problem I think with 3rd party. Telling Wii users and to a degree Nintendo fans what they want or just making assumptions. It's going to backfire on them I think if they aren't careful. For all the talk about how certain styled games or genres don't sell on Nintendo systems Nintendo's own actions and decisions seem to go clearly against that I think. Nintendo has FPS, Adventure, RPGs, Platformers, Action, Sports, Fighting, Racing, etc (whatever I missed) styled games on their systems and they seem to do pretty well most of the time. Many of their games are easy to get into but can be hard to master and complete.

For all the worry about being overshadowed by Nintendo games you'd think 3rd party would recognize the actual type of games Nintendo actually puts out and what games tend to overshadow 3rd party games. All this talk about Wii owners not wanting a certain style of game or being inclined to buy certain games is pure BS on the part 3rd party developers.

It hasn't mattered to SALES, yes. I didn't say it would. I just can't imagine only playing games that look as good as what the Wii is putting out. I'm not a graphics snob but I sure am jaded, and old graphics don't do anything for me. I could still have some serious fun playing games with terrible graphics, but I'd like the option to have something pretty to look at as well.

The most wanted system and the most bought system are different things, thats why I put (making it's prospects good for every time it gets a price drop).

The most wanted car probably isint camry's or civics but, they sure do sell the most.. except the price of that lotus or ferrari dosent drop, the price of the PS3 does..

Not to mention GBA's are $50... it's kinda a dumb argument...

DS's are outselling everything, everywhere, does that mean everything (including Wii and GBA) aelse is completly unwanted..... by your logic it surely does..
