1. Throw in a second Wiimote and Wii Play and sell it for the same price..
2. Get Wii Sports out of the bundle.. Sell it for 200 dollars and release Wii Sports as a Wii Classics title for 30 dollars
Which option do you prefer..?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
The only way I see Nintendo doing anything is if MS does a price drop. Though it would be nice to see Nintendo offer a few new bundles which is probably more likely than a price drop.
Counter Sony?, lol they're beating the hell out of them in the console and hand held race.
NickJayD
U do remember the ps2 is also owned by sony dont u? And even with the wii outselling the ps3, the ps2 is what sony will use against the wii. Its cheaper, and it has tons more better games, and developers would be crazy not to make games for the ps2 with an install base of 115 million + and still counting. If I were nintendo id be more worried about the ps2 then the ps3.

If you're going to use the PS2 then it's kinda stupid as that's at the end of it's life cycle, there are no more big games coming out for it. People are still buying more Wii's than PS2 so what's your point?.
Change?!?
The only thing Nintendo would change is making a version of the Wii able to play DVD's and have an internal Hard Drive, and that would mean putting the price up a bit.
Price all for the Wii = No Way ...
daqua_99
i would prefer HDD drivers for external HDDs

All the Wii needs is some decent games.

So u know all the games coming for ps2? If u think sony is not gonna use the ps2 to counter the wii, your in for a big suprise, and besides, like I said before, u think devs will pass up on making games for the ps2 when its install base is like 20 times bigger then the wii install base? Even to this day, ps2 hardware and softwares still sell very well, in a matter of fact so well that its second to the wii in consoles being sold, and still the number one system selling many softwares. If u dont believe me, go look at sales charts and see what system has most games in the top 10, and u can almost find a ps2 game there in every sales chart.

What is coming out on the 27 that beats Metroid Prime 3: Corruption???The wii doesn't need to do anything but keep releasing garbage, selling their console at profit, and sit there while they count all ofthier money.reservoir_doggyLovely point. I especially agreed with the point that wasn't completely full of absolute fanboyism.

There is nothing wrong with RE4 Wii edition, Zelda TP. So what they're ports. Metroid prime 3, Smash bros, Mario galaxy, RE Chronicles, Day of disaster, Soul calibur legends. There is nothing wrong with these games, people just like to complain about Wii because it's out selling more powerful systems.

lol I know you have caught me doing a lot of wii bashing but I just think that if you are going to be the market leaderthen maybe you should have more than just first party support.

I find a lot of wii bashing here, mostly because I'm always on the defense. I don't go out of my way to inult other people's choice of console unless it is a rebuttle to a comment towards mine. As to the opinion, if the sale chart leader is doing something wrong, then it won't belong before that title of theirs is changed. If they continue to stay on top, it has to be something more to what they are doing than what we are seeing. The wii doesn't need to do anything but keep releasing garbage, selling their console at profit, and sit there while they count all ofthier money.reservoir_doggy
Ok... your saying that because Nintendo are doing WELL means that its bad? Because they are making a profit rather then blowing their money down a drain hole. And the wii has quite a number of good games. Zelda, SSX Blur, Excite, RE 4 Wii, Rayman.

nygiantsfan1
I agree. The Wii is still selling strong 7 months after release and I don't think that a $100 price drop will be stealing a significant market share from Wii. I read that Sony is expecting PS3 sales to double with the price drop, but I think that Sony is underestimating the price sensitivity of the average consumer, much like they did when the PS3 launched. IMO, $100 is still not enough to make the PS3 attractive to the average consumer.

I believe that a lot of creative potential is being wasted because very few games that aren't first party are underwhelming. That is why Im a little upset that it will bemarket leader, because it won't be the leader for the reasons that it is supposed to be, a creative way to play a lot of new and original/excitinggames. Instead we see ports from the ps2. Hopefully that will change

Or... third option: Nintendo could do absolutely nothing and continue beating the **** out of Sony. I prefer the third option.
Not to be offensive at all, but those are terrible ideas. Casuals aren't diving over one another to get their hands on Zelda, they just want Wii sports. Throwing Wii sports out the window is the worst thing you can do. As for adding another controller, that would be nice but the demand is so high it isn't even neccesary to add anything. Even at $500, the PS3 is not much of a threat at all to Wii sales.

Nothing fanboyism about that at all. It's releasing garbage games now bar ports and remakes and still Nintendo are bathing in profit. Greedy *******.

You call Nintendo greedy as if they are forcing all of these thrid parties to release "garbage" games. What profit does Nintendo get if Ubisoft makes something completely craptastic. They don't. The only way N will make money is if a 3rd party makes a system seller, or if the game is published by Nintendo, making that party a 2nd party actually. So there is nothing the Nintendo directly gets off of a 3rd party. You can complain about them making a profit off of the console, but how many times have companies done that in the past and did very well because of it? Why would you want to lose money as a company apposed to making boocoos of money off the start?Nintendo doesn't screw early adopters like Sony does. I mean, if you bought a PS3 a couple months ago or at launch, you might be pretty p***ed that sony just cut 100 bucks from the price this early.
Plus the only reason to drop price is to increase sales, Nintendo needs no help with that. Though they easily could, Nintendo being the only company making a profit on their console.

Mmmhmmm.
With Sony and MS, it's all business.
With Nintendo, they're an evil greedy corporation.

Nintendo CAN'T increase the cost above $162.
FACT rules
Nitnendo MIGHT have a price drop if Microsoft drops their price so the core ends up costing the same or cheaper than the Wii. Right now even with a price drop the Wii is still half the price of the PS3. There's no reason for a price drop, as that is still rather steep.
I say "might" because Nintendo might be arrogant and say they don't need a price drop to beat Microsoft.

I dont think MS nor Nintendo have to make any moves, because even with the price cut sony is still the most expensive sysem out there. Ecspecially when the Wii is doing a pretty damn good job at selling systems why should they make any moves?

I don't think it would be because they were arrogent if they didn't drop the price if the Core became 250. The wii is still basically selling out at $250, demand will only increase as the holidays get closer (for all systems). It's simply supply and demand, perhaps in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 08 they might drop the price.
