In my opinion the wii success is not so much hurting sony right now as it is hurting MS, right now the 360 has the strongest linup but the wii's price and innovative ideas are making it fly off shelves right now and is slowing the 360's growth. As a sony fan I admit the linup and price are hurting sony right now but sony traditionally supports their hardware longer than the competition

what I see happening is the ps3 fanbase will slowly but steadily grow while the wii eats away at the 360's market share once sony's linup improves and the price comes down it will start to gain ground on the 360 and wii. I see both the wii and ps3 passing the 360 in the next 2 years because of stronger international support and eventually depending on how long nintendo supports the wii before it brings its next console out the ps3 will eventually pass the wii in 4-5 years. no doubt the race this gen will be alot closer but if MS brings its next console out 4-5 years from  now like they did with the xbox lifecycle I can't see it winning overall this gen especially with its poor japan support. If sony suppoprts its system for 6-7 years like the ps2 before bringing out the ps4 or whatever its called I see that stronger longterm support helping them win.

I will say that if nintendo supports the wii for as long as the ps3 it should win this gen with a 10-15 milion install base lead but if things occur similar to this gen I see sony winning with 80-90 miilion units nintendo second with70-80 ,million and MS 3rd with 40-50 milion. now all this is speculation and Ms could win if it stays in the race for the long haul but from what I have seen by MS strategy is they want to shorten the gen's lifespan 4-5 years instead of 6-7 like sony wants. that shorter lifespan drastically cuts down their potential sales. Another determining factor is whether the wii gets quality support throughout the gen its started off great but if the games become derivitive that could be another factor in both sony's and MS favor.

the wii is killing both systems. not just the 360. second, with kinect and sony move coming out, nintendo better be worried. those devices are going to steal away some of the wii's thunder. third, sony is not winning this gen. sorry but they are not. everyone needs to quit talking like "hey, in 15 years the ps3 is going to overtake the 360". they lost, get over it. the only thing sony can do is slowly bulid back up their fanbase so when they release the ps4, it can compete

Sony lost get over it, learn from the mistakes made and improve the next generation cycle.
