Here's the reason: As an owner of a PSP and a PS3, I feel no need to either get a DS or a Wii. I've considered both, and want neither. Because they don't give the same experience at all, or the same functionality. Maybe I'll buy the Wii when I've absolutely got to play a game directed by Miyamoto, but until that day, I'm all set. Lair, God of War, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Ratchet and Clank...keep your goods, Nintendo, I'm not interested.

So, based on the opinion of one Sony customer, sales numbers, makerting, or indeed any facts at all don't matter... interesting.

You can't fallaciously extrapolate your experiences and preferences onto the potential market.

nintendo stopped appealing to me after nintendo 64, i really dont care for them and they're systems for "everyone" anymore.

They can't even have an online service with wii launch although they had the WHOLE last generation to prepare one.

So true.

Are you sure? I think Nintendo might. Additionally, the only indicator I gave that I'm attempting to extend my personal opinions on the whole market is in the title of the thread.

Beyond that, I've got a fairly good testimony that rings true generally. There is simply nothing on the DS and the Wii that interest me...certainly a reasonable thought process. I said I considered both the DS and the Wii in the first place. Why would I be a fanboy if I'm considering both of them, and bought one instead? In fact, I've walked into Gamestop numerous times to ask "do you have any Wiis or DS Lites?" only to walk out disappointed...it is only coincidence that I'm not regretting that now. I camped out for several hours outside an EB games for a Wii. So, yeah, of course I'm a fanboy. Whatever, man. I just want to play God of War for PSP and Metal Gear. That has nothing to do with being a fanboy.

The online gaming on Wii is nonexistent, the graphics on either platform cannot compare, some truly amazing PS2 games are making appearances on both platforms, and they are both fully equipped as media tools. Those are some pretty good pluses.

Ok, now I'm confused.  Do you want Wii and DS Lite or not?  You said there is nothing that interests you on those systems.  Then you say you are disappointed that they are sold out when you ask?  WTF!  This doesn't make sense.

I honestly dont see Wii as a media tool (fully knowing that gaming in a way is media). I only would call it a Gaming tool. Its not packed with useless things to jack up its price. I bought my Wii to play games and thats what it gives. The News and Forecast channels as far as im concerned are conveniences.

Ok, nevermind. I get it.  You wanted DS lite and Wii at first, but was disappointed when they were constantly sold out.  Now, several months later you don't regret your decision not to get them.  But that still kinda doesn't make sense...because now DS Lite and Wii have more games now than when you initially wanted these systems...

You won't buy a DS or Wii because they don't offer wht the PSP and PS3 do? But if they offered the exact same thing the PSP and PS3 did, then there would be no reason to get a DS or Wii. Why would you need two products that offer the exact same thing?

Just a correction for you, Nintendo is STILL handing it to Sony.

Just because you say it isn't, doesn't make it true.

Sales numbers are solid truthful.... fanboyism is biased and weak.

So basically, you bought your PS3 for a roster of games that aren't even out yet and your happy your PS3 and PSP provide a similar experience...you paid $600+$200+Games...for the same experience?...oh...k.

Not only is there a MASSIVE price difference but one is a console and the other one is a handheld.

Its a running joke, the GBA has outsold the PS3 for all but one month since the PS3 launch. While the PS3 is being hyped like crazy and the GBA is dying off.

Yet the Wii and the DS continue to dominate the market -- and not just by a little bit.  Look at the sales numbers of those two consoles compared to all the other consoles.  You'll see that the sales of those two consoles is more than all the other competing consoles combined.  So your individual opinion is definitely in the minority and does not reflect the general opinion of most of the market.

The PSP and PS3 have a lot of things in common, both are losing to inferior hardware by a long shot and more then half of the games on each platform are ports of games people have played already on PC or 360 (or with the PSP its ports of PS2 games). DS and Wii are original, thats why Sony is losing to Nintendo so get over it. The obvious problem the TC has is that he bought a Portstation Portable in the first place, why play watered down versions of console games on a handheld with abysmal battery life and it cant even fit in your pocket properly. Sorry but I will take my DS Lite with tons of great franchises and many more original games then a bunch of ports like Star Ocean or Final Fantasy Tactics which I played about 10 years ago.

...not really. I mean the two offer two completely different experiences. I just really don't see the must-have games there for the DS. Myself I like the idea of a handheld console. People make me feel like I'm not a real gamer because I like good 3D graphics. Games like Crush, Daxter and the new Socom are the sort of things I've always wanted in handheld gaming. I'm sorry if 2D gaming just isn't as exciting to me anymore. It's also nice to have my music, games, movies and internet browsing in one package also.;) If you want my personal opinion I'd say the only way a hardcore gamer could be interested in the Wii is because it's cheap. At least Sony hasn't turned their back on gamers like me who care about more than cheap, minor innovations in control.

Well its arguable that the Wii has better games then the PS3, since imo both consoles are lacking in great titles.

I laugh at the sheep who claim ownage on that. It shows what 2 generations of straight beatings do to you. I mean Nintendo is the King of the Handheld world. Actually IMO the DS sort of flopped. If their's one thing Nintendo owned was the handheld market. I even told people that Sony doesn't have a chance yet the PSP is selling well. This is Sony's first go around and Nintendo has made how many handheld systems. The Ds should have made the PSP flopped in the first year. That was the last time I backed up Nintendo. If sony releases another handheld expect it to have better graphics then PS2.......erase all the flaws of the PSP and kill Nintendo next handheld. Â
