I still doubt it's gonna get as much 3rd party support as the other consoles. Nintendo has always struggled with 3rd parties.
But in the past Nintendo tried to do things themselves.I still doubt it's gonna get as much 3rd party support as the other consoles. Nintendo has always struggled with 3rd parties.
Demonjoe93
This time they are actually asking 3rd Parties what they want and building the system around it.
Also they should get a lot of support they have a system that is easy to to make games for because it is easy to take games from the PC and put it on the Wii U without that much effort.
Doubt all you want but the games announced at E3 alone suggest all the big publishers are backing it. Not only that but it looks like it's going to get the definitive versions of the multiplat games both on graphics and functionality. Look at Ninja Gaiden 3 for instance or the new Aliens game.I still doubt it's gonna get as much 3rd party support as the other consoles. Nintendo has always struggled with 3rd parties.

Yes it will get the multiplats that the 360 and the PS3 get, but it will still struggle to get exclusive 3rd party games because Nintendo is still gonna develop a lot of their own games, something that Sony and Microsoft don't do.

You say that as though the PS3 and 360 get a ton of 3rd party exclusives..? Most 3rd parties are multiplat now because of rising deveopment costs, the Wii at least was getting UNIQUE third party games and not the same rehashed shooters over and over
the advantage Wii U will get is that it launches before its rivals, this will encourage developers to jump on board.
Yeah I wouldn't exactly be banking on that when MS has gone the way of Kinect, Sony Execs are saying the PS4 won't be much more powerful than the PS3 and aimed at women, and both consoles aren't expected to be seen for years.Until Microsoft and Sony show off their new tech and Nintendo gets ditched again.
Phoenix534
Like what exactly?BF3. Ghost Recon, Assassins Creed, Tekken, Aliens, NG 3, Darksiders, Batman Arkum City, partners with EA (expect COD), Cry engine coming over, Valave on board, and that's just off the top of my head and from the E3 demo reel. That basically means all the big third party titles are going to be coming. Wii never got games like that at any point.[QUOTE="biggotorium"]all of a sudden the WiiU is getting bigger third party games.shinrabanshou

It seems it will get more third-party support, but i'm not sure how much, and if it will be enough.
I'm hoping...

By what? The underpowered PS4 which will be aimed at women? Or is the Kinect720? All we can say right now is that 3rd party support is back to Nintendo platforms, your talk of the future is specualation, expecially considering MS and Sony both look to be taking the casual route.[QUOTE="Phoenix534"]Yeah I wouldn't exactly be banking on that when MS has gone the way of Kinect, Sony Execs are saying the PS4 won't be much more powerful than the PS3 and aimed at women, and both consoles aren't expected to be seen for years.Until Microsoft and Sony show off their new tech and Nintendo gets ditched again.

Every company says that. If they said they were making a new console now, no one would by the PS3 or 360 anymore. It's elementary business: don't announce a product to early.

That's not what I was reffering to, I was commenting on the part about them saying the Ps4 wouldn't be much more powerful than the Ps3 and that it would be aimed at women. What? lol The reason 3rd party titles did bad on Wii is because it never got any big mainline third party titles. It got spinoffs and garbage because its graphics were too weak and third parties didn't want to make games for the Wiimote. Many big mainline thir party titles have already been announced for Wii U.They don't have too.
3rd party games did pretty bad on the wii, and that was the sale domininate console.
Wiiu looks like its going to be the N64 all over again. (will sell but won't be #1)

What is this "third party exclusive" you speak of? I thought those were just about extinct. It already has some 3rd Party exclusives lined up like Tekken "Wii Successor", Ninja Gaiden 3 (Working Title) It is an exclusive version of the same game It will have some things different. No More Heroes 3 is basically confirmed for the Wii U because Suda 51 said the new games are exclusive to Nintendo systems then a few years after it is made they port it with a different title.

Third parties didn't "love the industry leader" during the NES/SNES era, because they were draconian with ridiculous rules, and they didn't love the industry leader this gen, because despite a huge hardware installed based advantage their software didn't sell comparatively well.
I think the Wii U has the potential to win next gen. If it launches early and gets a good headstart it will be hard to catch up.

What software? You mean the numerous ports and spinoffs? Also a niche game isn't going to do gangbusters even if you have it on a the best selling console. Games like Okami and Godhand werent million sellers on PS2 either. When games like Portal 2 and MvC3 are available on a Nintendo platform then we can talk about good 3rd party software not selling. Developers probably didn't "love" NES/SNES but if you wanted to make money, you made games for those platforms.[QUOTE="CwlHeddwyn"]

Brand recognition is important but that alone isn't a guarantee for success. If Nintendo is serious about 3rd parties and being the market leader next generation, they have to hustle like they've never hustled before. All those 3rd party want to port over their PS3/360 games to make more money, so no surprise there for me.

By that time Wii U will have triple the sales when MS or Sony decide to to release their consolesNintendo hasn't had a serious console since the N64, and even then it was heavy on first and second party developers.

how would an unfinished system be playing a game that hasn't been made for it yet? :|
I don't see that happening because 3rd party games rarely sell well on Nintendo consoles. I remember when there were people claiming that the Wii would usher in tons of quality 3rd party support, but the Wii has ended up just like the Gamecube; it's best games happen to be first or second party games.
