You think if Sony had a Pokemon Franchise, handheld and console, game cards, tv show, toys, etc you think they wouldnt cherish that franchise?

You think if Microsoft had a platformer like Mario, that is a character that can do NES-SNES-64-GAMECUBE...then whatever zany controller is made they can make a game around him to work for it?

Mario yes milked, but he can bring any game into -the spotlight- and sell millions of copies, whether its DDR, GOLF, TENNIS, KART, BASEBALL [all of which would rock on the Wii especially tennis and kart]

Nintendo appeals to casuals, and hardcore but they OWN the childrens market, and that is some serious $$$$$$, hence the DS making so much profits and GB SP still STILL flying off shelves!

so why should Nintendo try to make its image change?!?! its already dominating young gamers, giving them memorys and introducing them to gaming....when those exact gamers get old you know they going to move onto 360 and ps3, so they need to be grateful!

nintendo shouldn't deface that fact they should embrace it!!!!

and wii is soooooo loved by parents and girls especially so that is nintendos sucess and profits!

I don't think nintendo needs to change its image. I like it being a family friendly friendly company. It's like the disney of videogames. That doesn't mean nitnendo's hardware can't support mature titles without losing it's family friendly image. Their family friendly image belongs to their 1st party software. Their hardware (the wii) has a separate image.

I'm 23 btw and I have no problem with nintendo's current image.

Nintendo is viewed as kiddy cause its the general publics preception of them. Let me ask you a question. When a parent is ready to purchase their very young child a game console, whats the first thing that pops in their head? It's Nintendo, its their image, why does that bother so many people. You know many gamers like to play Nintendo products because they are fun and make them feel like a kid again. Whats wrong with a kiddy image and why does matter? It doesn't.Danthegamingman

It matters because there are very few titles available for mature audiences. By and large, people looking for gears of war or resistance have to look elsewhere. Nintendo and Microsoft cold easily capture a much larger audience if they both broadened their target audience, even by a little bit. Sony captures everyone (this remains to be seen with the PS3, but PS2 had the most diverse collection of games by a considerable margin).rarsi123

It only seems to bother the haters (cows/lemmings possibly hermits) who try to use it as an arguement as to why wii sucks :| Nintendo fanboys are countering their arguements with threads like this ;)

If sony and Microsoft had those things, then chances are I probly wouldn't be a Sony/Microsoft fan. I don't like Nintendo because the majority of their games are shovelware and target a younger audience. If you like Kirby, Mario & Zelda then more power to you. But those kind of games just aren't my cup of tea.

Nintendo is only "kiddy" to some pubescing (is that a word? It shoudl be) boys ages 11-18 who have it out against the world and all that links them to their childhood.

To everyone else, Nintendo's products are just plain fun, which is what games are all about.
