Mainly because of distributors. For example, I live in Portugal and the main choice for a videogame console is the Playstation. Why ? Because Sony IS the distributor. Nintendo's distributor here in Portugal is Concentra, and they suck at it. The only Nintendo videogame that is actually popular is Pokémon. Without Pokémon, Nintendo wouldn't even exist here in Portugal. This started way back in the Gamecube era. It was literally impossible to find one, but people actually wanted a Gamecube. I remember that at school the kid's saw comercials of the Gamecube, they wanted one, but it was impossible to find one. Concentra only launched about 10 thousand Gamecubes in its hole lifespawn, and I'm sure this happened in several countries as well. So, don't blame it solely on the lack of commercials. Think of the distributors.

I don't know about your country in particular, but broadly speaking across Europe as a whole Wii and Wii software are doing amazingly well.

Its hole lifespawn?

The Wii is very popular in Europe, just not in certain regions. In the UK, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, it's practically the only system that sells in decent amounts. To get break their top 10, you either have to be on a Nintendo console, or PC, or be a VERY popular PS360 game.

Well, maybe it wasn't the brightest idea speaking about Nintendo's present popularity in Europe, but, generally speaking, in the smaller, less popular countries, the Playstation 2 is every families little playground.

I need Brain Training for PC and More Brain Training for Xbox 360, like NOW.

Gran Turismo 5 on the DS? Sony has truly given up, my heart goes out to them.

Its not that nintenod isnt popular , but isnt like in US or Japan.

I beleive ( as i live in europe) its because of hardcores. There are waaaaay too many hardcore gamers , especially PC ones, in europe. I think is one of the big reasons why. Despite that though i dont think Wii doin that bad in europe too ,considering the "casual" games it has. Imo always.

I'm in Portugal too and it's true that Nintendo isn't very popular around here, but that doesn't happen in the rest of Europe.

Just take a look here:

http://www.vgchartz.com/eweekly.php

I know the numbers are just previsions but it's clear the "Nintendomination".

Dont be silly TC. If nintendo know that a country wants the wii, and the distributer is not doing job effectively, they will tell them to ***** off. Any good company/entrepenuer knows that.

And as for portugal, you do know ronaldo is on the front of Pro evo Wii??

Number 1 selling console with overall number 1 selling software, even here in the Netherlands, which has been pro-360 even after the Wii was out for half a year.

The is actually kicking ass everywhere, last I checked. But I guess Europe was always the Personas de Mega Drive back in the day, hm? Maybe the whole "Nintendon't" mentality is still in effect.

Exactly. I already pointed Madden out to him. Furthermore, how can the largest PC gaming market be casual land?

one country =\= from the rest of Europe, and Portugal counts little to none as far a the big picture goes in Europe, Portugal has bad distributors that doesnt mean other country do.

oh and by the way the real reason for Portugal blind sony fanboyism is because of sonys quasi-monopolistic moves
