May have been posted if so I did not see it:

Nintendo “has not just survived out of the spotlight; it has thrived”, Surowiecki writes. “It has $5 billion in the bank from years of solid profits, and this past year, though it has spent heavily on the launch of the Wii, it made close to a billion dollars in profit and saw its stock price rise by 65%. Sony’s game division, by contrast, barely eked out a profit and Microsoft’s reportedly lost money. Who knew bringing up the rear could be so lucrative?”

it is very obvious that nintendo would be making the best profit because they are the ones that need profit of thier game console the most. The Wii is an amaing console.

Nintendo is a big boy, MS and Sony are huge companies that also happen to sell games.

I wonder what they will do with all this extra money? Buy out some video game companies? Just make more of their own games? I would love to see them buy out Sega, I know the chances of it happening are all most none. But it would still be nice to see.

Nintendo is a "big boy". It was around before Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo has more market expierience than either of them. Just because they aren't a multi-service organazation, doesn't mean they aren't a huge competitor. So in gaming terms, I think Sony and Microsoft are playing with "THE Big Boy".

The DS may easily be making them more than the wii, although i don't have facts to back it.

I am sure that the DS is putting more money in the bank than the Wii but I am also sure that the Wii is holding it own in the bank also....unlike the PS3 and 360

How does this help the Wii having no games to play?

well developers make games for the console with the largest user base. Nintendo's always made a profit (even the GC made $800,000,000 profit) and now they are also selling very well. Look at the DS for proof! It's the best selling console about, so SquareEnix are now making Dragon Quest IX for the DS, because that way it has the highest probability of selling well.

Nintendo has focused on fun and it has paid off. Taking a loss on system sales is not the way to make money, but is required if you are trying to make money by being on the bleeding edge.

You are right there but they are number 3 right now has far has a video game company goes. The question is will they move up from number 3 to number 1 or not.

Hah, poopinloop32 was wrong. Nintendo caught up to and surpassed Sony "as a company" (Market Capitalization). Microsoft really is out of reach tho.

'Palying With The Big Boys'? As far as I know, Nintendo IS the big boy.
