Good thing not many of them even exist. And what was the hype level for this game? AA-AAA? lol well it looks like those people will get owned.

Meh I could care less, I never liked Nintendo Power anyway. I'll still be buying this game even if it is terrible.

Actually I saw quite a bit of hype at the AA level in SW, at least i saw MANY people defending the game (even though you can guarantee they will hide and just blame fakeboys when the reviews hit the fan), all the SANE people knew this was going to be a crappy shooter, it's just the Wii is so starved right now people go on about how "The Wii will soon have a great shooter" :?And what was the hype level for this game? I think the problem with The Conduit was that the developers tried too hard to make the graphics the best they can for a Wii game and put most of their efforts in just that area. Even then, the game never looked amazing graphically - but they kept pushing it in our faces trying to make it seem like they are amazing. I think in the end, they simply tried too hard to be good. Usually when you try too hard, you will never end up being as big as you wanted to be compared to the ones that know they are good and know they can make quality games.
The big sites always tend to keep their previews positive to keep publishers/ Devs coming back and letting them play it. Imagine if you just ripped it to shreds pre-review, they just wouldn't let you have their next game to look at, hell look at Gametrialers pre-view of Fracture, the game was FAIL but they conveniently didn't mention that. Some sites have had some balls though, i have seen the "Not fun at all" comment on Computer and Videogames.com and elsewhere, they also commented the game was un-polished and too linear/ unbalanced so this has not some out of nowhere. BoloTheGreatThere is much truth in this quote. After all, GameSpot called Hour of Victory a promising WWII shooter. :P
There is much truth in this quote. After all, GameSpot called Hour of Victory a promising WWII shooter. :P They have to "play the game" so to speak :Pif they didn't they would just be shunned my the community, some of the samller sites or sites who's income is less dependent on apeasing the publishers tend to actually be honest and so you get some concerns raised ahead of release.[QUOTE="BoloTheGreat"]The big sites always tend to keep their previews positive to keep publishers/ Devs coming back and letting them play it. Yeah, true enough. We will see, I'm not a Wii owner so I really couldn't care less. But I would never want a game to fail, bad games is bad for everyone. killerfist
But the game ALWAYS was going to be like this, from the monet i first saw a gameplsy video i knew this game would just not live up to modern shooter standards. Bad technical graphics can be forgiven if the game has a HUGE scale (See GTA4, which actually looked awesome but hey) Or games which have a kick ass art stlyle like Mertoid Prime 3 did or Shoawd of the collosus. The Conduit has none of these, it is a technically proficient (for a Wii/X-Box game) but lacks any kind of redeeming design qualityies. It's a liniar corridor shooter whith a silly story ON TOP of all it's other issues. How did ANY of the Nintedo fans EVER hype this?!
How did ANY of the Nintedo fans EVER hype this?!BoloTheGreatYou make some good points but again, not many hyped this. There were just a handfull of people that thought it looked promising enough judging the previews and released footage. And also bad graphics and lame storylines can also be forgiven if the game is loads of fun or challeging for example. Look at NG2, not the most impressive graphics, filled with framerate dips and other technical bugs, lameass storyline etc. but it still managed to score a 8.5 (or 8? I forgot).

Most of the sheep were acknowledging the game, and defending it in bash threads, but simultaneously keeping it at arm's length so they couldn't be owned too bad no matter how it turned out.

Fair enough, but we KNEW that NG games were fun, it had already been established. Of course there are exceptions to a rule, an overall game can surprise you, like Resistance 2 did with me (i came in with low expectations and the game blew me away), but i do disagree that it was only a hand-full of hypers, it WAS only a handful making the hype/positive threads but once you got a "conduit is not looking good" thread the defence from the sheep contingent was pretty Epic from some users. I will try and find examples, they may surprise you.

Most of the people were bashing the game for the worng reasons, only because of its graphics, and as it turns out the graphics are one of the high points of the reveiw.[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"][QUOTE="BoloTheGreat"] Actually I saw quite a bit of hype at the AA level in SW, at least i saw MANY people defending the game (even though you can guarantee they will hide and just blame fakeboys when the reviews hit the fan), all the SANE people knew this was going to be a crappy shooter, it's just the Wii is so starved right now people go on about how "The Wii will soon have a great shooter" :?longprocess

Wow the game must REALLY suck then . The game looks eye-bleedingly bad. it's fugly. it really is.Why "not including Metroid"? It's not a shooter per se, but it does show that the IR pointer is a hell of a lot better than dual-analog for first-person aiming.Haha so much for "wii and waggie is best for fps" ,seriously is it any good shooters at all (not include on-rail shooters and metroid) for wii?

To be fair, sheep never hyped this, but for some reason it was made to seem like they did. People knew that an A would be a good score for this, it hasnt achieved that in the 1 review it has had so far, its not a flop, just a game people hoped would get an A, the hype was never really there.
Im expecting a 7.0 on gamespot by the way.
