Nintendo Power: Madden 08 is online WITHOUT FRIEND CODES!

In their exclusive preview of Madden NFL 08 for Wii, I just noticed their online part.

Madden NFL 08's online functionality is similiar to that found in other versions of the game.

There they showed a menu showing a player profile at the right corner of the screen showing his score, his name, his country and his stats.

On the left of the same screen showed the online options" PLAY NOW, LOBBY, LEADERBOARDS, EA LOCKER, MY PROFILE

On the botton part of the screen showed that there is an EA messenger, and you can press B to sign out. 

All the online stuff from the 360 and PS3 version will be avaible on Wii, including downloadable roster via WiiConnect24.

No mentions of friend codes anywhere. Nintendo says that no part of the game has yet to feature friend codes, if any, as EA wants to make the experience as deep as the other versions.

Well that's nice.

Actually, mine wasn't sarcastic at all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest fan of friend codes. However, I'm not totally against them either. I've just well, accepted them. Also, I'm very outspoken about the "friend code myth" aka you have to use friend codes to play online.

I didn't think he was being sarcastic and I said "Good for you." because he's not one of the many people who ignorantly bash friend codes (aka, believers of the aforementioned myth). However, if he was indeed being sarcastic I will take back my good for you and replace it with a big YAWN.

Friend codes isn't the best online system, but it could be a whole lot worse. ;)

Wii's Online Gaming future just might have gotten  30% better...

Based on the fact that 07 completely blew the 360 and PS3 versions out of the water WITHOUT online... you'd probably be wise to pick up the Wii 08.

I know I am, especially since the Bears will be one of the best teams in it.

That's great! I'm quite impressed by EA. Hmmm let's see what they do with the graphics of the game. Make it the same as GC/PS2/Xbox? Or pump them up higher to get the potential of Wii? And how are they gonna upgrade the controls?! I'm not a fan of Madden, but Madden 07 Wii was a blast.

i was chatting with people in mplayer back in 98...

i really dont see only three games planned either... perhaps three solid first party titles (then you're skipping bwii too)

but nights, dewy, zack and wiki, no more heros are all 2007

i dunno how galaxy doesnt do much to make things different either(cough 2 player)... so let's hear from you since you've played it

It is a big deal...for Madden fans.

The Wii version of 07 was the best vrsion of all the next-gen consoles. The only thing that was missing was online.

Well, now it has online.

So the Wii version will once again have the ability to trample the other versions.
