Nintendo really should have released 2 consoles this Gen.

The Wii and another console.

The Wii could be like it is now, i.e. behind in graphics, motion controller, family and childeren orientated and marketed towards. Still keep all the same titles as it has now. Then they should have released a HD console for us hardcore gamers with all the Mario titles but only harder, bigger, better graphcally, and not having to flair your arms about to play every game. A real online system. Obv they would need to make sure they market effectively to distinguish the 2. So then we could have 37 year old overweight Mums buying Wii fit and 5 year old boys beating hard core Nintendo Gamers at Mario Kart on the Wii. And have a HD powerful console for the rest of us. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the Wii, but it is not aimed at hard core gamers.

Oh, I almost forgot, the other console would have games titles such as MW2 and GTA as well.

The Wii and DS are more than enough.

1 more console would be idiotic.

That would've been so astoundingly idiotic a move that words can only understate the stupidity. I mean, seriously? Trying to establish a new valueset for gaming while producing a competing console based on the ones you're working to destroy? It just doesn't make any sense.

Why? There are already two other HD consoles that do what this other Nintendo console would do. People need to stop being so loyal to a brand and just migrate to the console that has the best games for them. Waiting for hardcore Wii titles is a friggin' fruitless effort.

Yes, the tc clealy doesn't recognise how much it takes to support such a system.

Not to mention the financial risks involved, and how it strays away from Nintendo's core vision.

Third, but not least it would be the same mistake as the GC/PS2/Xbox cohesion. There was not enough seperating the consoles.

Sony and Microsoft often release multiple versions of their systems. Nintendo has never seemed to be into this for some reason, obviously they did it quite a bit with the GB and DS systems but never really with any console systems. I wonder why.

No they shouldn't... :| That's just a bad, if not terrible idea. They would have split the marke and essentially guaranteed that both of their consoles failed. This gen, Nintendo went from having the least markestshare to having the most, and they made money on every console they sold. Clearly, hey made the right choices.

You know dude...ur right 70 million isnt enough sales. they are soooo behind. 360 and PS3 are obviously superior, especially because both consoles have half the amount of sales the wii has. I agree completely. Nintendo should not be making so much money, darn those greedy people!

Why? It's already overboard with a console and a handheld. How can a company run three consoles at once? Besides, with last gen as an example, Nintendo isn't going to get any third party support no matter how powerful their hardware is or generic it's controls are.

Haha, yours or his? Yours is forgivable if you skimmed, his is... not so much. 2 completely different consoles competing not only against eachother, but 2 other HD consoles which would be entirely comparable with this other Nintendo one... bad idea written all over it. :P

But it's too bad something will top HD and all of these games will be casual, that's why I want to find it first so I can be the hardcorest gamer ever!

competition is always best for the market, making it like everyone else would be silly and hurt consumers tell consoles apart

i think if the Wii had be $400 and such with better hardware, all consoles would be slowly selling, like 8 million per year like 360 currently is, which is good but we'd all be wondering "why can't any console sell as much as PS2 did last gen?"

seriously we'd have three consoles at 30-40million after 3-4 years.

consumers don't care about HD yet for the most part, and HD/better graphics and such play no role in how good a game can be, if the core design is solid and fun people will like it and it will be good even if its PS2 graphics.

HD is already old news. Now the market is being pushed towards 3D. My guess is that will be followed by Ultra Definition or even Super Hi-Vision. Then integral imaging, or at least some form of holographic technology, might come after that.

How about we hold a System Wars Business and Economy 101 class?

Such an idea is worse than releasing small, constant upgrades of handheld hardware.

i think we should all take the opportunity to ponder this thread -- and the gentle wisdom that went into creating it.

it is claimed that there are actually a number of species that can live without a brain for several days and continue to go about their business..............i'll leave it to everyone else to draw their own conclusions.

Wario_Kid

You don't have to flail your arms around to play most games on the Wii. Generally small motions will do. Some games can even be played with the cl@ssic controller.

PS I wouldn't dream of going back to an analog stick for aiming in Metroid Prime.

There's still time. However, since NIntendo has made such a big deal about innovation, I doubt they will come out with a new console until they have more than just HD to offer.

I feel the same way. I wouldn't going back to using a regular controller for RE either. I loved the control scheme in RE4 Wii.
