I read in news that someone Herman from SNK said that Nintendo is not allowing developers to go online for retail or to use online for their VC offerings. It seems Nintendo is getting greedy and wants to be the first to do it with their games. The result is we won't see online on Wii until late 2007 if at all. Sounds like Nintendo could care less about what fans want, instead it is feeding them SH*T about how they don't want the sheeps to be overwhelmed with online since they are just adapting to the Everyone Vote channel. I am a Nintendo's games fan, I don't care about the company, the company should care about what I want cuz I'm a customer and customers are always right !!

On another note, it seems Nintendo lied about supporting independent developers, since none of them received development tool kits. Some of the most creative games come from independent developers, but Nintendo seems to care only about themselves.

We will see how those rumors pan out.  But either way Wii will have to wait for online games just like the DS did, Nintendo is still a newbie in the online business, no doubt.  It sucks because Nintendo has so many cool mulitplayer games that would be perfect for online.  But at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

With a built in mic on the DS you would think they would have wifi multiplayer make more use of it. Most of the games you can't even chat to other users...

I agree that sucks, even though they make great games Nintendo can be very frustrating at times.

Someone thankfully already posted about the Online Policy, but here it is again you can read the interview of SNK:-

www.n4g.com go there to the Wii news section and you will see it.

Here's the link in regard to Nintendo not distributing kets to independent developers.

It's not like I can come up with this stuff. If Nintendo sucks in online, then at least give the opportunity to someone else to do it. The developers already have the tools to do it, but Nintendo is being selfish. Sheeps should object, if that is possible for a sheep.

As a sheep, I agree that this is a problem, but it will be solved in time, especially once SSBB is out. Anyway, I don't like online that much. I don't see the point of MP unless you're playing with friends, and all my friends have BS internet connections, or don't have the same online games as me, or both.

Actually it's not just Nintendo it's all of Japan.  Japanese developer tend to make crappy online games (if at all), and Japanese consoles don't take online services serious.  Also the Japanese consumers are pretty much against buying anything online.

This puts them at a huge disadvantage when figuring out how to create a satisfying online for the western consumers.

Sure, but many others want online, from what I see, there's huge demand for online by Wii owners. If Sony and Microsoft are doing it, there's no reason for Nintendo to let down the fans who want it. This reminds me of how Nintendo rejected the CD format and stayed with cartridge, in that Nintendo is slow at adopting the new gaming trends. Online gaming is big, and it's getting bigger.

How come this doesn't surprise me at all? Actually this was rumored to be true months before launch, though there were less people willing to go on the record about it. If Nintendo keeps dragging their feet, especially if it's perceived to be so they can release online games first, then I hope more 3rd party devs will go on the record as well to put some pressure on Nintendo.
