2 years ago in E3 2006, Nintendo kept everything they had to come in the future from being unveiled before E3. This resulted in everything being shown at E3 2006 was brand new and shocking, and resulted in Nintendo having the best E3 that year, beating both the Xbox 360 with their Halo 3 trailer and Sony's embarrasing price reveal.

But last year, Nintendo didn't do that and let the developers reveal their games before E3. This resulted in being no surprises or any new things besides release dates during E3 2007, since everything shown from NiGHTS to Mario and Sonic were already known. This resulted in them having the worst E3 that year.

Now, in trying to prevent last year from happening, Nintendo decided to keep every game to be released from Fall 2008 to Spring 2009 a secret. This makes for some great E3, but what about the wait for it? We know absolutely nothing about the 3rd generation Wii games and 5th generation DS games. This troublesome when all of the big name games have been released and all the big third-party games have been released, the sheep have nothing to look forward to except July 11-13.

Should Nintendo give it's fans a little peek, or save the kill for 2 months!?!

Good idea. We've already had Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros, No More Heroes, Boom Blox, Okami Wii, and WiiWare. Let people enjoy their games before announcing something else to move onto.

I still need to get Mario Kart WIi, once I get that I think I'll be able to wait for two more months. Anyways it's the summer season soon, people should get off their butts and go outside.

Reggie did give some hints (big hardcore games coming), but it wasn't enough to change the board.

I agree. The Wii and the VC is doing great, the DS is strong and they really have nothing to lose.

Two more months? Sure, I could wait. It's not like there's much else for me to look forward to on all systems this generation. >.> Other people, maybe not. Just as long as there's no sudden drought afterwards, I'll have no problems. A Brawl-like approach would work great if possible.

A steady stream of announcements keeps people interested in their system. However, since the Wii is already selling well they don't need those announcements. In fact, announcing them all at once makes a bigger impression than the combined impression of a bunch of small announcements, making the Wii seem even more miraculous.

To make a metaphor, I am a skilled Magic player. I'm not tournement level, but I'm not exactly casual either. One of my favorite cards is One Dozen Eyes. It lets me create either a single powerful creature, or five really weak creatures. If my game is going well, I will go with the big creature, which will allow me to overpower most things they bring out, and deal heavy hits when they have no blockers.

If the games going poorly for me, I'll choose the second option. This is because no matter what heavy-hitters the opponent has, they can't prevent me from sneaking past with my small guys, and I can afford to toss some away as blockers to buy time.

Basically, if Nintendo was doing poorly, and the competition had a lot of big games, they could give steady announcements, stopping the competition from shutting them out.

Since they're in a good position, they want to play their 5/5 green beast, so that anything the competition does will be overpowered by their announcements.

Who cares? Wii is #1.

They could be a no show and they will still sell out.

Didn't think about it like this. It does build up a lot of hype.

I just hope Nintendo doesn't disappoint.

You don't need fanboys chatting to build hype. And I'm sure they've thought this out carefully.

I think its a good idea. Instead of being hyped for a long time about their games/hardware (lets look at TP as an example) and being disappointed, we find out about their games when they are further along in developement, so we are not over hyped.

It depends on what they're holding out on. If they do have a couple of big surprises in store, it'll work in their favor. If they only have one big game planned, and it turns out to be something we've been expecting all along like Animal Crossing or Kid Icarus, it might feel like a letdown. I hope we also get more info on Disaster. Nintendo is being more hush-hush about that game than they are when a new installment of one of their classic franchises is in production. I want to see exactly what that game is all about.

They don't exactly have a choice. They can't legally reveal any new info within 30 days of earnings reports, or something like that. That's why E3 is in July this year (at least that is what I read)

Good idea. I think that this is the year at E3 in which we'll see a lot of blockbuster games. The rest of 2008 and 2009 will solidify Nintendo's prescence with the wii as the number one gaming system.
