No, the Pokemon RPG adventure series hsould stay on handhelds, however an open world 3D one for the 3DS would be awesome. Let Monolith help develope it, they know how to make seemless open world experiences.
you know what nintendo should do? they should scratch my bum while feeding me grapes to the tune of shinedown bully.
that's what nintendo should do..................
really though your idea is pretty cool but i'd rather have another 2d pokemon game with the mechanics revamped.... *kanye shrug* that's just me tho
There were 151 Pokemon in the originals. It's Gold/Silver/Crystal. Let's get those out of the way.
On topic, no. Everytime someone brings this up, they never suggest any ways for the gameplay to work out, and when they do the gameplay ideas they put out are just terrible. Pokemon just won't pan out in 3D because the gameplay from the RPGs just won't translate over as well as people would want it too, primarily because Pokemon focuses more on strategy.
No way, the original 151 are better. Not only are they better, but starting with the original 3 starter Pokemon Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander would be incredibly nostalgic and amazing. Why only the original 150? Gen 4 and 5 easily had much better Pokemon then any of the other gens.

There are some sucky pokemon in Gen 1, but Gen 5 had a bunch of worse ones with only a few good ones. Gen 4 was really forgetable, and Gen 3 just straight up sucked. Gen 2 had some all right ones in there too.
Dragon > Fighting Bird, Fighting Pig, Fighting Monkey.
Beastoise > All
Venusaur. You suck. Ivysaurs better. Still > Snivy.
It would be cool, as long as the battles stay similar (and fast like BW), paced differently so they are more fit to home console (add a lot more story elements), and online isn't way too open. Also, I was looking through some Pokemon fan arts, and one of the artists did a fake Pokemon concept arts where he drew younger version of Prof Oak, Agatha (Kanto Elite Four), Bertha (Sinnoh Elite Four), etc. It would be cool if they make it with them. It also gives them reason to be only having 150 pokemons. EDIT: this was what I was talking about. It also is pre-pokedex era so you have to draw the pokemons yourself or something and make it as you go. Pretty neat if they make it a bit more accessible. Also I don't agree with the starters either.IAmNot_fun
That's a pretty neat idead and i do like the starters, i wouldn't make much sense, but i think it would be cool.
[QUOTE="bbkkristian"]Replace "150" with "ALL" and I'd agree. gotdangit
Add another 100 in there for safe measure.
Whoa whoa whoa. You can't Just add another 100 pokemon like that. :x Especially when I edited my post after I actually read the OP :PWhy only the original 150? Gen 4 and 5 easily had much better Pokemon then any of the other gens.

They should include all the pokemon if they did that, the first generation's designs are not that good.
More like a Remake of Red/Blue/Yellow with 3D glorious HD graphics and full online capabilities. The original 150 Pokemon are arguably the best set of Pokemon by far. Then they can follow up with Silver/Gold/Emerald.
I would buy this in a heartbeat. Blazerdt47
Anyone who says this has clearly never played any of the later games. First gen was riddled with problems, successive games have greatly improved the core mechanics.
Also, not gonna happen.
I wish Nintendo would actually breath new life into Pokemon with something like that. We all know we we're going to get though another generation with 50-100+ Pokemon following the same formula with some average spin offs for the 3DS. If they do make a Pokemon game for the Wii-U it'll be another Battle Revolution. The best we could hope for is another game like Gale Of Darkness for the Gamecube.FlamesOfGreyHonestly, why should you care? You have dissed every Nintendo IP in existence for "nostalgia", even if they do breathe new life in them. You even give Nintendo fans (the actual fans who still like Nintendo and their games and systems) the same treatment.

Actually, I have never dissed EVERY Nintendo franchise. Fire Emblem is one of my favorite franchises of all time and I have never said anything negative about it. Some Nintendo franchise do get by because of nostalgia playing a big role. In general I have bad things to say about every company. It just so happens that I end up commenting on Nintendo more then others recently. I also play nearly every Nintendo title and if I bash it, it's because I feel it needs something done about it for my personal gameplay experience. I will continute to do so as well.[QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"]I wish Nintendo would actually breath new life into Pokemon with something like that. I liked Pokemon when it was just 151 so I too think Nintendo should go back and do just that. Screw the rest of the Pokemon's, the show and music went to crap long time ago and it's time to go back to basics for the Pokemon games.Swift_Boss_AI never knew Swift_Boss was capable of such a post. Nostalgia affects even great SW posters.

This idea is amazing! A game taking place in the past, before they had all that fancy technology, when the trainers really had to rough it? I'm sold.
As for the OP, I'd rather have a more normal, 2D experience, only online with other players randomly sharing your game world. I described this in another pokemon thread: Instead of a full-on MMO with all the common (and awful) MMO tropes, we'd have a more or less normal Pokemon game, only when you're out on your adventure you can run into real people as well as NPC trainers. These other players could be selected to combine their game worlds with yours by the server and then spawned off screen. Then you and they play the single-player game as normal, only you then get to run into each other out on the routes, in the caves, in the towns, etc. Think like the ghost players you see in Dark Souls, only you can fight and trade with them.

That makes no sense... that's like saying the human race stopped in the 60s... That's a piss poor analogy if I've ever seen one. What I basically meant is that some grew out of it after the Gold/Silver era. The majority of pokemon I see now are unfamiliar, and unlike 649, 251 isn't a bloated amount.Actually there are 649 pokemon.

I would like a game were it has all the Pokemon and you can go to every single region that we know of so far.
But I would be fine if it was 2D with every region and all 649 Pokemon.
Because I'm not sure if they can get it to be 3D on Handhelds if I want all the regions and all the Pokemon.

Why do I even bother arguing with idiots blinded by nostalgia? Perhaps you should educate yourself and you'll find that the Gen 1 starters were crushed by Gen 3 and 4 due to them being stronger, or in other words havign better stats and movepools. Please Log In to post.
