@R4gn4r0k: Is it new? I couldn't tell, I didn't play much of the last one. I want to see more games, this isn't one I'm interested in.

New Direct April 2? I was expecting to see a release date.

"Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. Details will be shared on the Nintendo website at a later date."

I guess Labo won't work

It looks beautiful. Much better than the "leaks" that came out. Another W for Nintendo.

Really bad reveal.

Completely silent at first (I thought my sound was broken)

No context, no explanations, not even a bit of excitement.

And most of all, didn't reveal anything that we didn't already know from the leaks.

@girlusocrazy: yeah it's an entirely new Mario Kart. There is a new circuit not in the previous one (which has like 6000 circuits) and Donkey Kong has an entirely new design.

A face lift if you will.

@R4gn4r0k: "So many circuits we needed a second game"

I just don't enjoy the gameplay of those anymore. MK DS felt the best and the last game was nowhere near that level.

Looks good. I'm glad they didn't scrap all the goodwill they garnered with the Switchm

Mario Kart 9 as a launch title is also a smart move. The previous one sold over 64 million copies, so there'll obviously be high demand for this one.

Finally! It’s official now. Pretty hyped for the system myself.

Getting a chuckle that it’s actually called the Switch 2. Some folks were so bothered that people were calling it that prior, it was just an easy label until the official name came out. They were also so adamant that Nintendo would never call it that. When it comes to Nintendo you need to learn to never say never. 😅

Shadowdropped it.

I do hope they have a bigger presentation soon at least. Like what they did for the original Switch.

Just a teaser and it's already confusing with its marketing. It looks near identical in name and design to the current Switch. This will confuse casual consumers. I see another Wii U failure situation here like where people thought the Wii U was just a new peripheral for the original Wii.

You can tell that Nintendo didn't want to release that trailer early but had no choice because of the leaks.

@mysticaldonut: I think the name makes it very clear it's a second generation console with the same concept.

But I do agree that the reveal has been awful so far.

It is unprecedented for Nintendo to name a console after a number, but the Switch successor is officially called Nintendo Switch 2.

The most noticeable features of the Switch 2 in the reveal trailer that I see are the rounded edges and the Joy-Cons will not be using rails.

Yet that part wasn't a problem with the PlayStation 2. That's gonna be a case of consumers being dumb. How simple can you get with calling the follow up the following number?

Doubt this will be anything like the Wii U. Having a 2 following the name is as straightforward as you can get, much more then a “U”.

Nice that Nintendo finally made it official but I feel like the damage leaks already hurt the surprised and such for me that is. Not excited till April 2nd when they finally go all the details for Switch 2. By that time, I'll try to put in my pre-order slip on April 2nd but not interested in the new Mario Kart launch. Hopefully we'll get Metroid Prime Beyond for a launch title as I can see that as a killer app launch game.

Looks pretty sleek and looks like a good jump power-wise. It's been really due for an upgrade. I could see myself pre-ordering it, I've been excited for a more powerful Switch. I hope some Switch 1 games will also be able to get an upgrade with it too.

I just don't enjoy the gameplay of those anymore. MK DS felt the best and the last game was nowhere near that level.

Ok so my favourite game is Double Dash: two racers on one cart, a spectacular offering of tracks.

I did love MK 8 at first (and yeah DS is one of my top ones too) and I played it so much with my friends on Wii U and eventually Switch.

But the game got a bit long in the tooth and the Tour tracks were of very low quality, the high points were the original tracks like Ninja Hideout or that one where all the racers are tiny and you get flushed through I think it was a kitchen sink.

Wow April is still a while away for the Direct, wonder what that means for the launch date... You'd think June at the earliest. Hope it's sooner.

But I like the look of it, it's just a more refined Switch. Exactly what I wanted

I'm excited. I wish they had announced some of the launch titles (besides Mario Kart.) A beefier Switch with backwards compatibility is exactly what I wanted. Nintendo is in touch with their fanbase.

@navyguy21: Where are you pulling that from?

Anywho nice to see it in it's final form. Looks quite sleek. Much nicer than the Switch 1.

It looks like the joycons can also be used as a mouse (no one seems to be mentioning this). That is an odd, though not unwelcome, inclusion for a console/Handheld. I wonder will Lenovo sue 😏? Still it will be Joycon/Mouse(con?) for me for Metroid Prime 4 (assuming the game supports such a setup).

Still need final specs and price of course but looks like a nice console. It also looks like it won't be released until later in the year. Eurogamer are mentioning Hands on tours in April. Maybe Nintendo will do a big blow out and Have a big Direct with a launch AND the tours all starting on the same day, which would be cool. But I wouldn't get my hopes up.

@osan0: Yeah, the mouse-cons will be a neat feature (assuming anyone supports it).

I'm about 60/40 in favor of upgrading, but still want confirmation about price, battery life, and such.

From what I hear everything is pointing to IPS LCD. There doesn't seem to be even a sniff of a chance of an OLED model at launch.

Don't like Mario Kart anymore. Tracks all too short, lame physics and still no way to checkmark all the items that you want on the maps. DLC also had far too many real world cities. I don't want my world in Mario.
