@techhog89: But you'll notice that Nintendo is not marketing this device as a tablet. Those comparisons just don't make sense. It's a gaming console-portable hybrid, and its sales are something we can't predict because, hey, no one's ever tried this before.
@emgesp: Your prediction, given the current rate of sales, requires that there is a sudden and drastic collapse in sales at some point next year. That could happen, but such a thing happening is pretty rare. IDK, I'd at least up the ceiling to 50 million if I were you. It'll most likely be at well over half of your current range by this time next year. And that's before Pokemon hits. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but rather that your prediction is extremely arbitrary
Just curious, do you think that Nintendo will hit their forecast for this FY, or is 10 million extremely optimistic to you?
They won't have any problem hitting their first 10 million sold as long as they manufacture and ship enough.
So, you're predicting a huge first year followed by a massive drop off in the following years, presumably due to Wii U owners rushing to be early adopters or something like that? I kinda get where you're coming from, but Wii U was the only case of a Nintendo system in recent memory peaking in year one.
Edit: Okay, 3DS did too, but that was largely due to the price cut. Thus, we should expect Switch's peak year to be whenever it gets its first major price cut. DS also peaked due to its price cut and a new model.
I will need to see what they have lined up for the first quarter of 2018. I assume Smash Deluxe will be ready sometime Summer 2018.
If you're saying this, then you're basically admitting that your prediction, which you stated as fact, was premature. My point is that making predictions solely based on how you assume market conditions will proceed without taking Switch itself into account isn't reliable. Even professional analysts embarrass themselves by doing so. It's even worse in your case, since you have bias going on. You'll deny it, but you literally came into this thread to say that it doesn't matter because it's going to have mediocre worldwide lifetime sales according to you (made even more weird by the fact that this is a Japanese sales thread and even you can't be thinking that PS4 has a guaranteed win over Switch there).
On another note, I don't buy the Smash remaster rumor. I think Smash will be a new Smash 5 on Switch, probably in 2019.

I think you aimed this at the wrong person. @emgesp
Switch will sell more than traditional consoles in japan mainly because of its portable aspect. In Japan, unless something changed recently, portable is king.

If no Smash or Pokemon in 2018 then what is going to keep the Switch relevant throughout the year? There is already a Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon sequel and a new 3D Mario is coming out in October. They need something huge for 2018 to keep sales from taking a nose dive. Can't get by with just lackluster 2nd tier Nintendo I.P. (Toad, Yoshi, Kong) and indie support.

I'm betting on Pokemon hitting next year. We also know that Yoshi, Kirby, and Fire Emblem are hitting next year, with a decent chance for Pikmin 4 and Animal Crossing (and if you call Animal Crossing second tier you seriously have no clue what you're talking about). Japanese third-party support should start ramping up as well since this is looking like a success.

I own Animal Crossing for both Wii and Gamecube. I know full well of its appeal.

Right. Either way, we won't have an idea of 2018 until the September direct at the earliest. It'll certainly be interesting. Most of the game rumors were false, which why I doubt that the Smash remaster is a thing.

Do think its false or do you want it to be false? They could give it the Deluxe treatment and I think the majority would be happy. Yes, a true sequel would be even better, but they have to fill up 2018 somehow.
@emgesp: I think it's false. Switch rumors just haven't been very reliable as far as first party software goes. Mother 3 was BS, Zelda was too obvious, Splatoon got a sequel rather than a port, Zelda made it out for launch, Mario didn't make launch, Pokemon Stars was complete BS... I just don't think that any of the rumors came from reliable sources. Nintendo doesn't leak their shit, simple as that. Only leaks from third parties might be reliable.
On another note, a bit of an update on what to expect this week in Japan. Switch will drop by 20-50% based on reports due to lower shipments, though it's still completely sold out. Also, I said that the PS4 version of DQXI was sold out in a lot of places, but this is wrong. Sell through was 84% and digital sales were strong, so demand was met.
like i said you are delusional, you can believe what you want you angry little boy.
Still not saying where you live LOL

Yo AzatiS I think you need a break from the internet yo.
he takes a 5 minute break from GS every 6 hours.
For example ! I just came from a beach bar party ( another tip dummy ) home to see this !!! I mean tell me , where were you the last 3 hours i was partying in the sea with my drink on hand having fun with girlfriend and my friends, 15 minutes from where i live ? In your house do dishes or a street next your house talking video games ?
I dare you to tell me what did you do the past 3 hours !! Hahaha! Tell me if youre not a beta and youre an honest alpha what did you do the last 3 hours ... You wont do that, you know you wont... youre in misery there and you know it.
Thats why im telling you over and over ... theres nothing to get into me from these pathetic attempts. Still 1/10. Keep trying maybe youll find something, ill let you know when you find something like i told Jump.
For now, keep crying, ( im eager to see what youll think next in order to make it as personal as it gets. )
Haha this just gets better.
Again, the country you live in, certainly isn't the only one which does beach parties. i think most coastal tourist destinations in Europe are familiar with the concept of "beach bar parties"
why not just say if you are so proud? i might have been there myself!
Since i dont use GS when i am not at work, i've only just seen your message.
I may have been playing one of my guitars, or flying my drone or been watching a movie with my wife. i did those things on Friday night. I certainly wasn't posting on GS.
I admit that i wasn't at a beach party though, so you got me there.
Lets say i believe that you did return from a "beach bar party".
since you admit that the first thing you did when you got back from the party, was log on to Gamespot........I think that kind of proves my point.
Oh nice but thats a depressing life right there to me ( not with the things you doing rather what you can do overall and the quality of life there ( again not money wise but place wise )) !! I hope youre a happy man though and be all good with your wife and friends etc so you are full inside if you get me. Then for sure it doesnt matter where you live and what you can do. So i hope inside you sincerely youre in realy good shape.
But just for the record ... still you leaving in a shithole.
Yeah after i went home and ate something and did my things i turned on my PC to download something and while i was at it i checked the sites im usually checking. I do that from work also because ... i can , to pass my time when i have time, so might seems like im online all the time to you. No problem. Why should i feel bad about it lol !
If all that bothers you or you say that in purpose so i should feel bad about it .... you bringing up again the worst argument possible to get into me. I mean it, i mean why the hell to take this as a negative when all of you are here posting etc in the first place.
And to END you like a boss like im doing everytime ... YOU GOT DOUBLE my posts in less period of time in GAMESPOT ( i got a year more in here ) And thats assuming you dont have any alt you posting with which most probably you have.
So if a guy with half your posts = no lifer etc ... WTF that makes you dummy ? You see why im calling out your IQ ? You dont think straight when you start some shit and either backfires or its easy to deal. Come on ... So guess whos laughing/smiling this very moment ...! I do ! Not a gif, not fake hahaha. Youre a funny dude.
I want next the 50.000 poster guy since 2012 or something to call me out being online on Gamespot all day to laugh even more.

I live in a shithole? how would you know that? I can assure that i do not. my house backs on to a woodland actually. yes i am very happily married thanks
I'll take a guess at Greece. Have you now discovered the invention of the toilet there? or do you still shit in a hole in the ground? plenty of your countrymen seem quite at home here cooking kebabs!
Like i say, i only post on GS when at work, i've not been posting half as much as i used to. Very rarely would I do it in my personal free time. Unlike you, i have better things to be doing when at home. Notice how my first reply was 8:00 am this monday morning? that is because i am at work!
If i ever find myself sat on my PC at home looking at GS comments on a Friday/saturday/sunday, i will promptly punch myself in the balls.
You sure now how to show your girlfriend a great party, was she deflated when you said "i am going to check GS messages" or did you pump her back up again?
Again with the IQ thing, you are so stupid that in reponse to my "you are on here all time" comment. your answer was "well i've just been outside actually, I came back and logged on to GS".
You are a clown....full stop.
Well it backfired right ? Damage control response ! Accusing me for things you made up and it backfired hard !!!
I got half your total posts in same amount of time ( 13 YEARS ) , thats all there is to it. Everything else are things you making up, nothing more nothing else so i cant even take them seriously because not only thats not the case but also even if it was ... why someone to get angry or upset about that ?!
So keep things personal i dont mind. Just proved you wrong yet again. Double my posts, youve been active in Gamespot double the time in short. And by the time i reach 25k posts like you have ... might be 2025 . So should i start shit about your posts blablabla ? What the heck mentality is this at your age man? Find something else to say, more debatable, more intriguing or more like, i dont know !!!
Oh and in an hour ill be in another great place to party and have fun for 5-6 hours before i get home again, want me to take some pictures ? Its only 20 minutes from where i live. I might do that just to see the difference im talking about. But then again .. you wont appreciate them youll find some shit to talk whatever i do so...!
@techhog89: "WiiU + Switch < Gamecube" isn't silly. It's fact. Folks hate facts. Who'd have thought System Wars would predict the rise of fact denial and logic hatred worldwide?
@locopatho: Well, this is a Japanese sales thread. GameCube shipped 4.5 million units to Japan. Wii U + Switch = over 4.6 million SOLD in Japan currently. So... Yeah...

Not just Japanese, globally, the Switch and Wii U put together are at 18.4 million units at the moment to 21.9 million lifetime sales for Gamecube. Unless locopatho expects the Switch to stop selling tomorrow, I have legitimately no idea what he is on.
He sure is! I like Gamecube, I loved it's first party offerings as well as some 3rd party gems. But come on, PS2 and the OG Xbox had a lot of great 3rd party games that didn't make the GC. Especially some great 3rd party exclusives that were fantastic.
So you made a completely pointless and irrelevant statement? Cool.
Weird how many Nintendo nutters attacked me and made shit up if it was so pointless and irrelevant? Facts hurt fanboys.
I mean, okay? I just want to know what your new statement will be after Nintendo updates Switch shipments in October.
BTW, I posted a newer thread. PS4 lost, and it wasn't close. This week will be even more of a beating. It still has a chance of winning NPD though so I guess you'll cling to that.
