Nintendo: We Have A Big Announcement Coming on Monday

Nintendo World Report had Nintendo's Damon Baker on a recent podcast and he dropped this nugget:

“Speaking of announcements, I wish I could tell you guys, but stay tuned for Monday. Monday there’s going to be something… something happening on Monday. It’s going to be big.”

"Stay tuned, it’s going to be good.”

Super Smash Bros.' final Direct? The announcement for the NX reveal conference? The launch of Nintendo's new online service? Minecraft on Wii U? Half Life 3? What could it be?

Seems like it has something to do with Final Fantasy VII? Maybe Cloud in Smash launches on Monday?

Who knows with Nintendo. I'm sure it will be something slightly underwhelming. Regardless, I think it will be an NX related announcement. I would however, love to see them announce a new network infrastructure. It's undeniably needed at this point to compete with the competition. Just my two cents take it as you will.

That is considered a "Big" announcement?

I'm just posting what they said, bro, personally nothing short of a new network, or an announcement of their conference for a new system, or the announcement of a major third party game will be 'big' for me.

FFVII remake for Wii U and NX.

No other reason as to why Cloud would come to Smash Bros.

If it does, I will definitely be getting it (assuming it ends up being rather hardware-intensive on PC).

If the Final Fantasy VII remake comes to NX than consider me sold on the console. But I think it's more likely that they will announce Cloud's release information for Smash

I want it to be exciting but in all realization it'll probably be a boring, irrelevant announcement.

If Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming home to the Wii U or NX (Most likely the NX), then it will be the first time ever that the Mainline FF games comes back to its roots with Nintendo. It will be indeed a huge home coming

Won't be surprised if it's the FFVII remake coming to NX. I'll buy it on PS4 unless the NX offers a big advantage over it like say 60 fps or something special like an edition for the NX.

It might be out of left field but I'm thinking that not only will there be info on the Cloud in Smash Direct, a port of FF7 will be released for Wii U and later NX. It would be a guaranteed way to make me double dip. People might wanna say its not a big deal but its a big deal.

For one of my girls, that would be the best thing to happen, ever.

I doubt there are going to be any game announcements for a console that's still a work in progress.

I'd agree with you, if multiple games had already not been confirmed for it.

I highly doubt they are gonna waste their time porting FF7 remake to the Wii U. Its dead Jim.

I agree about them not porting FF7 remake to Wii U. But I do think that the OG FF7 will be ported. The Steam version with VC features like save states would be something to see. I wouldn't be shocked if all the PS1 FF games end up on it since it means more sales.

After 20 years of waiting, a Nintendo console finally gets Final Fantasy VII.

Why not? Xenoblade Chronicles X exists.

It started development in early 2014 at the latest, by all accounts it should be near finished, especially since rumors have it entering mass production sometime early next year.

The NX is actually the Virtual Boy successor.

I thought it was pretty damn obvious that Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to hit the NX ever since Cloud was revealed in Smash.

So yeah, it's Final Fantasy VII Remake on the NX. There's no doubt in my mind.

It's Nintendo we're talking about, prepare to be underwhelmed. Still pretty excited to get a Wii U next week :P :P (I presume it comes next week since I ordered it yesterday).

I'm not gonna get my hopes up either... It could be anything, so I'm not gonna bother guessing either. I'll keep an eye out, yeah, but Nintendo's announcements of late haven't gotten me all too excited.

Only problem is that Nintendo won't talk about the NX until next year.... Then again, it is almost next year :o

Did they say where they were going to announce it? Social Media? Youtube? Direct? or will we just wait for an article?

I reckon they're trying their best to keep NX on a tight lock, so the crumbles that get left is what they're throwing at us.

They're not gonna screw this up, but i don't expect 3rd party western developers to welcome them with open arms. I hope they trudge through the first year with good japanese support and manage to get the acceptance of EA and Activision. Unfortunately, those two are needed for relevance in the current western console market.

Well, eventually they'll have to announce the NX event. No way are they going to wait until E3 to announce a new console that's coming out the same year.
