I personally believe the Wii would be the perfect game for an RTS game. The pointing of the Wii mote to control and direct your forces seems to be a very good mix of elements. RTS games and consoles have had a shaky past but I think because of the Wiis unique controller it may very well work.

What do you think?

Probably couldn't even run it.

As for what the TC asked, we shall see when Spore comes out for the Wii.

A truama center control set-up would be best. Use the pointer for...well...pointing. And then use the nunchuck control stick to toggle commands.

If people are complaining about the way Halo Wars looks on the 360.. I don't even want to imagine the results of a Wii RTS.

It could definitely work, but probably work best on a PC.

That's definitely possible. If I were a dev, I'd add that when you hold the Z button and moved the control stick, it moves the camera around the map to allow fast movement. I think that would work better than actually moving the pointer to the edge of the screen to move it around. Also, maybe add grouping to the C button and direction, giving you a total of 8 possible groups after selecting them with the pointer.

I think another game that will show if this works will be PES 2008 from Konami. That game is setup to control almost like an RTS and should be pretty interesting.

The way it looks on the 360? I think most of the complaints against RTS' has been about how it controls more so than how it looks. At least for me, that's the biggest qualm about RTS' on consoles.

The closest thing to an RTS on the Wii is Batallion Wars 2. Although it turned out to be merely decent.

I think it could be good, but I don't know if one will ever be developed for it. It doesn't seem like the Wii audience would buy an RTS.

I would definitely be different. It wouldn't have that level of depth of a pc rts though because of quick keys and the like, but it would still work better than analogs for sure.

I wonder if motion sensing could somehow be applied. I'm thinking tilt moreso than gestures.

that is happening, but we have almost no info on it. All we know is that miyamoto said that pikmin will work well with the wiimote. So, for all we know we wont see the game until 2011

yeah but we all know spor won't even resemble spore on the wii...the wii verison will be like harvest moon with customizable creatures changing on a single planet in a small location, mabe a planet, hopefully, it won't be a bad game, BUT it won't be spore.

If developed well, I think RTS could be amazing on the Wii. I'm very excited about Pikmin 3 - and I'd love to see Ensemble bring an Age of Empires title to Wii.
