-nintendo surpassed sony's revenue in videogame related sales this year ( a first since the snes era)

-DS sells 2 million units in 1 week breaking the all time sales record for 1 week set by ps2 1.7 m

-nintendo wii sells 1.4 m consoles worldwide in 1 week and demand after being on the market for more than a year is still through the roof with the big n struggling to keep up w/ the demand

-gamespot goty SMG beat out the best of the best in all platforms (halo 3 ,crysis,cod4 mc, bioshock,gow2,forza 2)

The GOTY doesn't really mean anything.

Gamecube murdered the rest of the consoles in GOTY's.

But yes, Nintendo is back.

On paper it sounds like it, but for a gamer like me, it needs more than a handfull of great games.

At the moment and for the forseeable future I see the 360 as the console to beat purely due to its games. They may not be all AAAE's, but all great games on one platform makes it the best IMO.

I believe it's cause the wii has a good price point. But when i look at my 360 and PS3 and see how much more i can play on there and then look at the wii and see that theres maybe 3 to 4 games i'd like to play it just doesn't sell for me but the DS is a great machine.Solid_Max13

when i look @ the 360 and ps3 their games are too similar and and they are cannibalizing each others sales and success

For the PS3 I agree, but you can't say that the 360 has little games to offer then run back to your Wii, since there are more AAA games out for the 360 than there are games worth getting on the Wii.

And better hardware means more possibility, you could argue that the PS2 was just the PS1 with better graphics and a DVD player, but do you honestly believe for a second that God of War or GTA 3 would be possible on the PS1?

The Wii can do things that the 360 and PS3 can only simulate, but the PS3 and 360 can attempt things that the Wii wouldn't even be able to comprehend.

I'm one of those few guys who might have questioned their decision but always understood it and believed in it, and I gotta say that for the sake of gaming it's good to see those guys reclaiming their top spot. What I mean is it's thanks to them handheld gaming is where it's at today, home console is as good as it is today, gaming develops the way it does (except online) and frankly I would rather see my kids grow up with Wii Tennis and Mario Galaxy just like I grew up with Duck Hunt and Mario Bros rather than CoD4 and God Of War.

yes! and 360 is in no danger of losing that lead whatsoever! There is no way Wii will overtake 360 in consoles.

I dont think the current gen of nintendo games are fun. I dont like them. I think Nintendo is doing more to hurt gaming then any company since Atari in the 80's, by marketing to everyone, then putting out overloads of shallow, weaksauce games that have trouble holding a mature persons attention for more then 5 minutes.

Unfortunatly I cant really say this, everytime ive said anything negitive about nintendo on these boards I get modded... i dont feel like losing anymore points. So disregard everything said above.

I don't see 2008 being any different than this year to be honest.

I believe it's cause the wii has a good price point. But when i look at my 360 and PS3 and see how much more i can play on there and then look at the wii and see that theres maybe 3 to 4 games i'd like to play it just doesn't sell for me but the DS is a great machine.Solid_Max13

Well then you're simply speculating.. Based on Software trends the only 3rd party wii games to see a significant amount of sales were GH3 and maybe Madden... The wii is kicking the 360/PS3's asses and yet they dominat the wii in software sales (well atleast the 360 does). What that says is people aren't buying 3,4,5 games on the wii.. They're content with wiisports and or Mario.

OK thanks for telling us the sales, I dont really give a damn, gimme some god damn games that aren't lousy Wii-ports and if I recall my friend lousy Wii ports won the worst trend award. Seriously the system is flooded with licensed cash-ins and has a really weak line up and I'm still waiting for some decent 3rd party support.

seems theres no stopping nintendo this gen. they have really appealed to a bigger audience this time round and is defo working for them.
