Nintendo's E3 was a very smart move for Nintendo (Reason why)

more publications then just gaming ones were at the event, and nintendo should games that appealed largly to those that dont play games.
with sucks suky causal titles like wii sports, wii music, that dikhead on the drums, they enforce the fun in the wii for people who dont usually game.
this will= more sales for them as publications glorify nintendos neat (gimmicky) new products (like wii fit last year)
As a gamer u could be pissed, but as a buisnessman i think it was a good move, they are targeting the userbase of the wii.
Which i believe are not mostly hardcore gamers but becoming more and more casualized.
so say wat u want about nintendo, but they know how to do buisness.

Nintendo earning money for themselves doesn't benefit the gamer for the 103,365,998 time!!!

Your whole post shows exactly -why- fans were pissed.

They completely abandoned the core gamer, in favor of non-gamers, so they could rake even more money.
They've already been selling the console for way more than it actually costs, not to mention new peripherals becoming a common thing.

Basically, they've abandoned the people who kept them afloat the last two generations, for a mass market appeal.

Well I bieve you cant' 'casualise' a hardcore gamer anymore than you can make a sophisticated food critic start a diet of pizza and crisps but that's just my view. None the less I still don't find that this argument holds together. Yes Nintendo are showing that they will further please the casual gamer but that's only what they did in previous years and in previous intances they have managed to both delight casual gamers and hardcore Nintendo fans. It is still possible for Nintendo to not lose any of their userbase but only if they now show us something that will please all the old Gamecube and N64 fans which then went on to buy a Wii.

if they compleatly abandoned us, then why did they bother with brawl and metroid...you can't say that mostly casuals bought that.

yes, they have strayed a bit from the hardcore gamer and seem to have had there idea of hardcore screwed up "we have teh hardcore, we got animal crossing!" aside...nintendo hasen't pushed us out, they just got a bump on the head and let in our cuter little brother.

Oh, I'm not arguing over what they plan for the future. We can never be too sure.

However, if E3 were any indication, they have pretty much alienated their core fan base. They have shown that the majority of their focus is on non-gamers, and attracting more of them.

This will make them money. However, it does feel like a stab in a back to fans who've supported them for the last two generations.

People really know how to exaggerate. Its not the end of the world. Miyamoto still confirmed that the Mario and Zelda team is working on a sequel for the hardcore.

nintendo wasn't smart with this

they could have easily catered to both non-gamers and the traditional gamers would watched their press conference with such hope and expectation

all it would take is a 1 minute zelda trailer and a quick confirmation of a few titles in development, at the very least

ignoring their loyal fans' wishes wasn't smart

E3 was piss poor for Nintendo. Everyone I know who we would deem 'casual' either didn't know what E3 was or was not interested in what Nintendo did show. My mom said "we already have that" when I played the video of Wii Resort. Also, in my limited sample, Cammie is annoying to casuals and hardcores alike...

But E3 is in the past, let's see what Nintendo comes up with for the future. Their recent profit may be from the casuals, but they've been in this business for 25 years and know better than to forget where they came from.

Because so many casuals actually watch stuff like E3.

They have their ignorant lives to live, so they can't be bothered with stuff like this.

That's called a "bait-and-switch". It's a very good tactic for backstabbing the very people who got you where you are.
