how would you explain or describe Nintendo 1st party exclusives as opposed to the competition?

In my opinion Nintendo exclusives are unique for some reasons:

- they have this cheerful aspect to them

- usually the gameplay is very good

- shiny, brillant colors

- great level of polish

- very fun to play, make you smile

- 60 fps

as I see it, that's what tell them apart from the HD twins

what say you?

The only game to have all those points on PS360 is Uncharted 2. I need some help here though.

Shiny, bright colors? Really? Makes you smile? Uncharted 2 had plenty of color and many moments made me smile. Nintendo doesn't OWN FUN. Stop it. Just stop it already.

Mario Kart is karting rather then a normal racer. There are other ones now but they all followed MK. Smash Bros is like a party brawler rather then a fighter. Metroid Prime is totally different to any FPS I ever played, people still argue between FPS and FPA. Zelda, again, nothing really like it except maybe Okami. It's a unique blend of action, puzzles, exploration and RPG like growth of stats and equipment. There platformers usually are pretty standard, but again, Mario kinda started all that jazz back in the 80s so can't really blame em :P

What sets them apart is they never add any new exclusives. Always the same faces. So if all you ever want to play are those same twenty games every generation well then Nintendo is your company. Mario kart on 3ds? You got it. Mario kart on Wii2? Guaranteed. Zelda on 3DS? You know it. Etc. etc. etc.

Reggie himself put it in a very nice way: "So that's what excites me – something that feels familiar but that's done in a whole new way."

That's the definition of Nintendo gaming.

Kirby's Epic Yarn has nothing to do with the main series in terms of gameplay, it's a new experience but familiar as they slaped the Kirby universe into the game.

ah but this is SW remember. games are about characters and story. if a game doesnt have a new set of characters or a new story then its a rehash regardless of what else it does. mario kart is just more reshashing of mario platformers because its just more mario. mario platformers are just the same ol same ol because its all mario and the story is always to save the dam princess from bowser. uncharted is innovative as its got a new story and characters with high production values and is cinematic. the fact that its just gears mixed with POP is neither here nor there....uncharted and gears and the like are proper new ideas. also the likes of MGS are also not rehashes because they introduce new story and characters. welcome to SW. anywho id take ninty exclsuives. far more interesting.

I have some. -480P -Childish -Plotless (save for Zelda) -Boring -Rehashes sold as "retro". -Cheap to produce Metroid Prime is one of the few games that escaped all of that. GREAT trilogy, some of the best games of all time IMO (especially the original one on Gamecube). Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 are great games, but still fits several of my bullet points. All I know is Nintendo raked in the money this gen, but they only got a little from me since I only bought 11 Wii games total. I moved over to PS3 as soon as I got that.

I'd like to see him try his hand at Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. Odds are that even on normal mode, the game will eat him alive. Best of luck to him if he's going to try hard mode without co-op.

I think Little Big Planet has all this, plus really fun coop, awesome user generated content, nearly unlimited replay value and great online. Also the Ratchet and Clank games remind me a lot of Nintendo games.

PS3 has a good mix...... simple cheerful games like LittleBigPlanet , Ratchet and Clank , ModNations Racers , Hot Shots Golf , Singstar , Buzz ...... and if you want more mature or violent content you can look to God of War , Heavy Rain , Killzone , etc. And they have everything inbetween like Gran Turismo , Uncharted , inFAMOUS , Motorstorm , MLB , Wipeout , etc. They will continue to rule this generation with an Iron Fist on one hand and a cheerful thumbs up with a wink on the other side.

Nintendo is a one-trick pony , and Microsoft tries to be Sony but ultimately fails.

I don't see Microsoft trying to be like Sony at all. and about the exclusive, TC is right, Nintendo exclusives are just unique, while ps3 and 360 exclusives are pretty much the same old hat.

On what planet...? PS3 is still coming in last place for this gen. 360 is still marginally outselling it, and Wii outsells it by leaps and bounds. Meanwhile, the DS outsells all three consoles. (individually, not combined; although it does outsell the PS3+360 combined, and the Wii+ either the 360 or PS3 combined) Source: http://www.vgchartz.com/ Just... where are you pulling your facts from, again...? It's like saying Australia will continue to rule Europe, when it never did in the first place.

Kart Racing and FPA games are not standard Genres and Zelda isn't even an Action Role playing game (which in itself is not a "standard" genre). They are Niche hybrids of standard genres.

[QUOTE="gaming25"]I'm sorry? Someone made an asinine comment about how the PS3 is ruling with some form of iron fist. Regardless of the subjectivity of finding quality in exclusives, the fact remains that the other two consoles have a larger install base, drastically more so in the case of the Wii. While I myself don't judge something based on sales, I thought it was worth pointing out that something generally has to come in first place to rule (with an iron fist, no less), and not in last place. If someone can direct me to sales figures which debunk the statistics I've cited, though, I'll gladly concede. Keeping this on-topic, sales do matter, since a console with more hardware sales will have more software sales, and if you want to determine a winner between software, then the only objective way to look at it would be sales. [QUOTE="gaming25"][QUOTE="waltefmoney"]Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, MadWorld, No More Heroes, Red Steel 2, House of the Dead: Overkill. Go. Play them. Have fun. >my face when people assume a game has to be graphic and violent to be necessarily good. >my face when they realize MadWorld is decent at best and No More Heroes is only entertaining due to how cheesy it is. >my face when I have no face. My god. It's like kiddos nowadays can't just sit down and enjoy some Super Mario Bros, Katamari Damacy, or De Blob. It has to be CAWWA DOODY BWACKOPS and/or feature over-the-top gore where you shoot someone in the head with a shotgun and their brain goes flying in no less than 50 directions. Grow up, enjoy a game based on its gameplay. Don't lower yourself to what Rockstar, Treyarch, and other shock value devs expect of you. Have some self-respect.

Subjective. I could voice my opinion on the PS3's exclusives, i.e. the only one worth playing is Demon's Souls, but that's just an opinion. I can't back it up with fact, just like you can't with yours.

I dont play COD games. Its just that the Wii doesnt have that many high quality games. There's only mario and maybe a couple of other high quality exclusives, but that's it.

Take a look at the titles for the Wii and the titles for PS3 or 360. I'll take the top 10 PS3 or 360 games over Wii's entire library. The market for Nintendo isn't gamers anymore.

Top 10 Wii games(from the spreadsheet):

  1. Super Mario Galaxy 2
  2. Super Smash Bros Brawl
  3. Super Mario Galaxy
  4. WarioWare: Smooth Moves
  5. Super Paper Mario
  6. Donkey Kong Country Returns
  7. GoldenEye 007
  8. Kirby's Epic Yarn
  9. Metroid: Other M
  10. Sin and Punishment: Star Successor

Look at all that shovelware.

There are like 5 mario games on there lol. And Donkey Kong and Kirby isnt the top tier games that people thought they wouldve been.

[QUOTE="pills4louis"]My god. Have some self-respect.gaming25

I dont play COD games. Its just that the Wii doesnt have that many high quality games. There's only mario and maybe a couple of other high quality exclusives, but that's it.

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor House of the Dead: Overkill Castle of Shikigami III (properly beating this on one credit is harder than most games on all three consoles, barring perhaps Demon's Souls) De Blob New SMB Wii (amazing game, and I haven't enjoyed a first-party Mario game since Yoshi's Island) Red Steel 2 Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Kirby's Epic Yarn Muramasa: The Demon Blade >only a couple high-quality exclusives besides Mario Hurr.

PS3 and 360 can do all that except for 60 fps.TheGuardian03
I gurantee the PS3 and 360 could run a Wii resolution game at well over 60 FPS lol

De Blob, Maramasa, and Castle of Shikigami arent high quality exclusives. Theyre good, but there arent MGS4, UC2, or even SMG2 great.

Pretty hard to even be on par with MGS4 (10), SMG2 (10) and UC2 (9.5) :>

These games are supposed to be ultra rare and once / year experiences.

Completely and utterly subjective statement right there. But I can play that game, too: MGS4 is a movie-game with no replay value, UC2 is in the same boat as Tomb Raider, and SMG2 didn't impress me. Castle of Shikigami is great if you have a pair of balls and are up to the challenge of one-credit clearing it. Muramasa has single-handedly the most breathtaking 2D visuals in gaming, and the RPG/beat-em-up hybrid gameplay surpasses its revered predecessors, Princess Crown and Odin Sphere.

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor is the sequel to an N64 game from 2000, and there hasn't been a proper Donkey Kong Country game since 1996. Go play S&P: Star Successor and DKC Returns. Do it. Go have fun.

  7. GoldenEye 007 - horrible by current FPS standards
  8. Kirby's Epic Yarn - not that good
  9. Metroid: Other M - horrible
  10. Sin and Punishment: Star Successor -didn't play yet

Look at all that shovelware.

Here is what I think of the top ten Wii games. The last game I purchased for Wii that I thought was well worth the money is Super Smash Bros. My opinion is that a lot of the games you can download from the PSN store, Live or from Steam for $15 or less have higher production values, better online, better graphics, etc... than most $50 Wii games.

In this argumnet, can we include the ps360 games that do not come on the wii? there are alot of them and i think that would make it easy for the ps3/360 to win. This is going off the title where it seems to put ps3 and 360 on the same team,

I'm agree, most Nintendo exclusives are unique and really fun to play, they indeed put a huge smile in your face, not to mention, with high quiality and great production values, but that doesn't mean the other exclusives aren't like that too, but for me, Nintendo exclusives are mostly better than Sony/MS esclusives.
