WTH happened to Nintendo. Back in the day, Nintendo put all of their characters in real games. For example, Donkey Kong got the Donkey Kong Country series, the same happend for Kirby, Starfox, etc. Nintendo also made new IPs each gen. Now it seems all Nintendo depends on to satisfy the hardcore audience is Mario and Zelda, Zelda, Zelda. At E3, all people want from Nintendo is Zelda, ugh. How about putting all the other Nintendo characters in a new installment as well.I miss the old Nintendo:( And where the hell is a new Donkey Kong Country. 2d sidscroller please!!! Because we all know DK64 sucked.

People want Zelda because it is the best game series on the planet. We demand more!

Maybe because when you were younger the "hardcore" games that you played as a kid were actually casual. That's what happens when people are blinded by nostalgia.

Man, that is so true, I want to see another F-Zero or Star Fox, not Zelda, though I don't hate Zelda.

Nintendo has really lost their image in the hardcore crowd. They chose to favor a wider audience and alienate true gamers for bigger profits.

I've been saying this for a bit, Nintendo and its fans need to stop relying on Zelda and Mario and need to go to their other IPs.

And I liked Dk64. :(

 True. Most of us weren't playing Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, or Secret of Mana when we were 7 or 8 years old.

Nintendo needs to give Metroid to Vanillaware already and stop sitting on it and doing nothing.

It's a lose-lose situation for Nintendo. The fans demand Mario and Zelda over and over, but then there's the people who hate that they make Mario and Zelda over and over. What are they to do? Obviously, please the fans.

stole my post! DK64, though was a litttle boring at times with all the collecting, was a GREAT game, and it was in Widescreen!

I agreed with you until you said DK64 sucked. That was by far one of the best games on the N64.

but back on topic. You're not alone in feeling that way. It frustrates me to no end that all people are asking for are more GC ports and new zeldas. We need a new Donkey Kong platformer, and even more importantly, new franchises.

make new franchises that are up to par with mario and zelda? at least a whole hearted attempt? is that out of the question? there is really no excuse for them not to do this with all the money they have.

it's not. it takes multiple attempts and lots of time and money. nintendo just made 3 billion what? oh, right dollars. they have the money. they can hire talent. get miyamoto and other nintendo veterens to direct the Mario/Zelda quality stuff and have the rookies at ninty make the casual stuff with miyamoto as a consultant on the casual stuff.

That sounds like what they're doing now. Making games like the Wii series while taking their time with the epics like Galaxy. For all we know, thenext big gamecould be a new IP.

no. i'm talking new IPs of zelda and mario quality, or at least a good attempt. and in higher quantities by hiring lots of new talent, establishing new studios and putting those billions of dollars to good use.

Nintendo has to make their core fans happy and most of their core fans want them to reuse their old IPs before they make new ones....Which would you rather have a new Mario platformer, Zelda or new IP. Myself I rather have them use other IPs. There is still so many like Starfox, F-Zero, KI and so many more.
