So, two out of three are charging for online multiplayer the upcoming gen. Sony being the latest in this filthy scheme of putting features behind a paywall. Microsoft was the only one to do it last gen, but this time Sony jumped in. Yeah, I just did that. But what about Nintendo? Now, the Wii's online capabilities were pretty damn basic compared to services like XBL and PSN. So, like hell they were going to charge for that, but the WiiU seems to be fairly capable in that department now, and yet Nintendo hasn't pulled anything like that. Now, do you think Nintendo is going to charge for online play next generation perhaps? And would you pay for it?
Depends how expansive their online with be. I don't see why not though. It's not a cheap service to provide. It's sucks paying for it, but it's understandable at the very least.
Dont believe that. Sony saw people were willing to pay for play online so they said, hey why not? Nintendo will do the paywall on the Wii U successor. Well, here's the problem, for better or worse, Nintendo tends not to follow Sony and MS' footsteps.
Nintendo's online isn't even as good as the PS3's let alone PS4 / XB1. They would have to have a great online infrastructure to even consider it and they don't currently.
The correct question would be "Would they HAVE online play?" Because they care as much for putting online play on their games as much as Sony cares to make their "Sony Computer Entertainment Presents" screen be skippable.

EDIT:Â You might be able to do it in the F2P multiplayer/post several of the patches. I've never actually updated my copy of the game, so I wouldn't know in that case.

Not the first time you play the game, but after that I'm pretty sure it lets me skip.
I think Nintendo is smart enough to know their online service isn't worth any money. Then again they are charging $350 for a Wii U so  they will probably try.
no.... i don't think so.. not many people think well of their online.. they would have to build some type of reputation and reel in people before they can start making excuses such as they need extra money to maintain good service etc.

I certainly hope not. I usually get a couple consoles a gen. If nintendo also forced me to have to pay for online like Sony and Microsoft that'd really suck.
No, Nintendo is behind in online, plus its great they're the only free ones. Once they hit PS3 level, which they should within given time. Its will be great. Esp. this gen coming for free.
Nintendo is too busy counting money to actaully fight anymore. The only thing I dislike about them now.
