Or is it? Can Nintendo's juggernaunt Wii really rebound, it has shown it can sell hardware units like mad, but can it shake off the image which plagues it? Not the image of shovel ware, though that does play quite the roll here at SystemWars, but the image of lacking quality titles. The Wii needs good 3rd party titles, and it's just not getting them - the Wii is getting left in the dust when it comes to big-bang 3rd party titles - and from what I see when I look at Nintendo's library, this is what I see:
With the help of the site Metacritic, I will provide some statistics which speak for itself about the Wii's library of games as of today, July 14th, 2008.
Metacritic has 232 games listed under the Wii - out of this number, 73 titles scored higher than 69%, and within those titles: 24 of which scored higher than 79%. What does this ultimately come down too?
10.34% of Wii games score AA or better.
31.47% of Wii games score A or better.
A whopping 68.53% score less than A on the Nintendo Wii gaming console.
With Nintendo's E3 showing sneaking up on us within the next 9 or so hours, do you think the Wii will start rebounding and start giving the gamers truly what they deserve? Will that gap above start getting a lot smaller here pretty soon?
Let us hear your thoughts.
