So now that E3 is over, what announcements for the holiday season have you pegged as must buys for yourself? What are your top 10 most anticipated games still intended to be released this year?
Coming out of E3, Mine are as follows:
1) Uncharted 2 (Q4)
I absolutely loved the first Uncharted. In my opinion, the pacing, the gameplay, and the overall story were just perfect. I've tried the beta for Uncharted 2 and if it's any indication, Uncharted 2 may very well be a GOTY contender.
2) Brutal Legend (if it ever gets released Activision *shakes fist in air*)
Brutal Legend has just about everything I could want in a video game. It has awesome music, a hilarious story and, from the opinions of those who played it at E3, some pretty awesome gameplay as well.
3) Batman: Arkham Asylum (8/25)
I am an admittant comic book nerd and I may have bought Batman just for it's presentation alone. From the voiceovers of Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy to the story of the game, it just screams Batman: the Animated Series. I would've bought Arkham Asylum just because of all the effort that has been spent authenticating it, but , luckily, it's also shaping up to be one of the best licensed games to come along in a long while as it doesn't have to be rushed to coincide with any release dates. It looks awesome.
4) Sin & Punishment 2 (Holiday Season)
I only got into the first Sin & Punishment when it was released on the Virtual Console, but it was as entertaining to me as any games released on the market today. if S&P2 is even half as good as the first then hardcore wii gamers are in for a real treat.
5) Beatles: Rock Band (9/9)
The Beatles are probably my favorite band of all time. Couple that with Rock Band, the game that has probably given me the most play time out of any game, and that's a must buy from me even if it's sadly not exportable. Harmonix seems like they put a lot of effort into it anyway which is why it made my list.
6) Dead Rising 2 (Q4)
I never got the chance to play the first Dead Rising as I don't own a 360, but it got really good reviews and the concept of this one just seems great.
7) Bayonetta (Q3)
Platinum Games has proven themselves as a top notch developer with Okami, Viewtiful Joe and MadWorld. There's no reason for me to doubt them with a concept as awesome as Bayonetta's.
8) Little King's Story
I've been following LKS since it was known as Project O. It looks to be the closest thing to a new Pikmin game that we've seen on the Wii thusfar. Wii 3rd party devlopers need support so I'm definitely picking LKS up.
9) BioShock 2
The first BioShock was superb, but seeing how this one is adding a multiplayer mode which may detract some from the single player effort I'm not sure that BioShock 2 will be as superb as the first. However, even though Levine's not working on it, it still fully has my attention.
10) Assassin's Creed II/ The Saboteur
Assassin's Creed was one of the most repetitive and boring games that I have ever played ,however it had a great presentation, concept and story. Ubisoft Montreal looks to be improving on the failures of the first game and their last effort, Prince of Persia, was one of my favorite games of '08. That gives me a little hope at least. As for The Saboteur, it really surprised me at E3's press conference and it is now on my radar as the gameplay looks to be a lot of fun.
