There is a video for it up at GameTrailers but I don't see any threads on it, everyone is too busy fighting over whose console Cryengine 3 will look better on.

You would think PS3 users would be more interested in a affordable, platform native engine built just for their console.

I thought the thread would go off the page and not get any responses for a moment.

You do have to admit it is interesting that PS3 users seem more interested in arguing over Cryengine 3 than a engine built specifically for their platform.

It was many of them after all that claimed Cryengine 2 wasn't that impressive compared to their exclusives, allot of sudden interest after a console version got announced. Typically what I would expect from SW is they would argue a PS3 exclusive engine like Phyre was superior to everyone else and would show off the true power of Cell and so on.

typical fanboys, now cryengine 3 will be treated like a multiplat game. "Bu... buh... teh CELL is better for teh cryengine 3!" and "teh 360 gpu is beta for teh cryengine 3". Aaand to be honest, I think flower is the only Phyre Engine game on the market at the moment. I'd give it a few months before we see some "Phyre Engine is the awesome PStriple exclusiver enginezz" threads.

you know what, I actually though you were praising PS3 there for a second but its just flamebait :)

of course its important to argue what console gets the best version of the same engine of the current graphics king
It's logic. edit @Chutebox hope that answer covers your question aswell

Oh I wouldn't necessarily call it flame bait, more provoking a justification for what I am observing.

Normally people favour exclusives over cross platform because it merits their platforms image, I just find it interesting/funny that they are more interested in fighting over a cross platform engine than a exclusive one shown off around the same time.

One that Killzone 2/MGS4 supposedly already surpassed so Cows wouldn't care if it came to PS3 anyway, if that's the case what is the fuss? But of course that is not the case; which I'm just poking a bit of fun at.

Crysis graphics weren't that good until the engine came to consoles, now arguing who has the better version takes much higher priority over a PS3 native engine.

Probably because I generally don't know what engine is used in the games I buy. I genereally don't care unless it's usually a buggy engine.

I dont get why people dont care. After all this engine is here to help PS3 devlopers develop better and easier on the PS3. If anything its good thing and people shouldint scoff at it. Also there is one game that uses this engine and its already out its called FLOWER.

SW thinks they care, but they really don't. No one is going to buy a game just because it uses a certain engine. And a developer is going to use whichever engine they want, whether we show "love" for it or not... And if the Unreal Engine is any example, how a game performs technically is completely based on the developer, and not the engine itself

I'm excited about it. I'm tired of getting crappy ports of games designed for 360 hardware. I just want to see some good games using the engine before I get TOO excited.

Flower was beautiful so if this engine is behind it I'm really excited about the future games that might be running on this.
