No more cross-game chat for you 360

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will force players to decide whether or not they'll play the game and join the game chat, or choose to stay in a private chat and not play in the multiplayer game

This is going to suck, I use that feature a lot when I play MP games with my friends. Well, I'm not buying MW2 anyways.:D

wow ppl have been throwing cross chat in ppls faces for ages ("cough" lems) and now they dont care. And others have been going on about how there getting this feautre for ages ( "cough" cows) and now they dont care

This is good, ever since cross game chat was implemented all online games have been ghost towns. Might as well play bots IMO.

Back to the good old days of XBL.

They are giving the developers the option to do it, if that's actually true. I doubt most will do something like that. Good going, Infinity Ward. It's like they're trying to piss of the commuties of every game platform at once.

I don't plan on playing MW2 online, but if I was I would be pissed.

What the hell was the point of giving us this feature if you're going to take it away? If you're going to take it away, make it for a game that needs it. Like Gears of War 2, or Halo 3. Games that need callouts because if you're not communicating as a team you're going to lose. Instead let's give it to a game that doesn't need communication, at all.

That sucks. I use party chat frequently. I don't plan on buying MW2 anyway, but I'm going to be very disappointed if this becomes standard.

To be fair, it's only one game that's confirmed to be doing this so far. And Activision seems to be keen on pissing off as many potential customers as possible before the games release.

I can see their point... both to eliminate an avenue of cheating and to get people to actually play the game.

Then again, I really didn't see the point in cross game chat to begin with....

Here's the thing though.

If you hate someone on xbox live (which you will), then you can call him a ****.

If they're in private chat (and say you're in a ranked online match or something) then you'll really hate them because they're destroying any possible chance of you being able to coordinate with them. You'll really want to call them a **** at this point, but you won't be able to.

Simple as that :P

Any other game besides Cod i could understand this. But this game needs no team work, it is a ramboing n00b fest and there is no reason to talk to any of the lame random people who will be playing this. God, IW is just doing EVERYTHING they can to piss people off arent they?

be honest 99% of all cod players dont use the mic for cooperation at all, at best they say FU#$ that guy in the machine gun turret. otherwise you get "fu#% u man eat my lead" "fu&$ im going to get high" "hey anyone want to listen to me act like i have a social life" "hahahaha noob! eeat my crotch!" As far as cheating goes, it happens in search and destroy and really who cares if they lose a match? losing cross game chat is worse. and how exactly are you going to "communicate" with your teammates if no one cares or is screaming into the mic? oh yeah sure u can mute him and talk to no one or coordinate with no one so teamwork is gone. its better when you and your friends who dont want to listen to other people, but rather talk about seeing a movie later or hw or a job even, and for those that care being able to coordinate their plans. thats why private conferences are important

This game could have been great. The sequel to the great COD4. But it seems like IW is trying everything in their power to make people mad, and get them to not buy it.
