I think that games don't need to use FMV,  even if the game looks bad, I think we are at the point of games looking so good that we dont need it and on top of that it take's you out of the game experience.

it's spoiled me

now i can't appreciate ingame graphics as much

i think it's still pretty interesting to watch, but ONLY if the game has some sort of sci fi element or unique style

i usually skip cutscenes for realistic crap

i especially dislike when they only advertise the FMV also

sure it's nice for trailers, but atleast give me a glimpse of how the game really plays

Games arent even close to the quality of a good FMV. Ever seen any of Blizzard's FMVs? Yeah.... Got a long ways to go. Besides, its not like omitting them will speed up the time it takes the game. Most of the time they hire an outside studio, out source it, or work on it after most of the in-gam art is done and the art department needs something to do.

I disagree. I don't mind FMVs at times, cause they can still look way better than in game engines at times, and having something like FF excellent sequences in FMV help portray emotion better than in-game graphics do. Also, I must stress that with FMVs they don't have to restrict themselves to looking "realistic' and can be stylish and unique like God of War's FMVs.

FMVs allow for much more fluid animations and beautiful deliverance of story related content. I would NEVER want to see FMV gone.

I don't know, i'm spoiled by Squaresoft/enix with their spectacular cut scenes; but if games like RE4 or NGS tell us anything it's a game can look just as good as their scenes.

Well, I think a few FMV's here and there won't hurt a game much, but personally I hope that a dev puts more emphasis on gameplay over graphics with this supposedly 'new and improved' hardware. Mind you, that's almost career suicide these days considering how important graphics seem to be in the public and critical eye. -__- (goes back to playing Gunstar Heroes on the Genesis)

oh there will still be FMV with the next gen consoles(PS3 & 360). last gen(PS2, GC & Xbox) the FMV's were an indicator to next gen graphics(PS3 & 360) so FMV on the current gen(PS3 & 360) will indicate the graphics for the PS4 and xbox 720.
